I cycle, motorcycle and *gasp* drive. It matters little what mode of transport they take, nobbers will be nobbers. However, during large participation events, they spread like wildfire.
I was in a mass participation cycle ride one year and the standard of riding was... varied. Now, roads hadn't been closed off for this so it relied on some cooperation between cyclists and motorists. Needless to say, the total blocking of a single lane was commonplace which lead to understandable ill-feelings.
To top it all off, on the return leg a large cycle club decided to take the same route and their appointed group leader was yelling "Move aside, xxxx Cycle Club coming through!". Now I am not too sure why they didn't spare themselves the inconvenience of this and take another route for the day, or they were dubiously advertising their superiority and/or entitlement, but it seemed poor form. Much like a promising county runner entering Race for Life.
