The humiliation is complete! Am i being naive in suggesting that they could've let England win the last test to avoid such an humiliation?! Mind you we are talking about Australians here. They aren't renown for their sense of fair play or etiquette i suppose.
What would be fair play about gifting England a win?

There is too much test cricket and it seems that Englad are playing Australia every 6 months instead of every 4 years or so like it used to be.

This past year's schedule, with back to back Ashes, has been a once-off to accommodate the World Cup. That said, Australia had exactly the same schedule as England.

Keep Stokes, Broad, Anderson, Cook, Bell and (Prior if he gets some form back)
In truth, you'd have to keep faith with some of the others on this tour because the class from the county pool is limited.
KP wil survive probably as will the young'uns Root, Ballance, Bairstow.
In other words keep pretty much the same team and hope for the best next time?

Well, yes, apart from the mistake to play Carberry. Panesar will be ditched.
You can hardly ditch Balance, Bairstow and Root for being the best of the young crop coming up against Johnson and Harris at their best.
I'm interested to know who you'd pick in their place.

No, I'm all for your choice - keep the old gang together as best you can.

I'm Australian

I wish the English team the best for next time . This Ashes series didn't seem to be very closely contested, and the close games are always the best, in my opinion. Nothing like a good suspensful knucklebiter :hyper:.

There are reports that Flower will resign if Pietersen remains in the team...

Hmmm. If GB knew nothing else, he could at least generally stay in for a while.
Although not when Botham deliberately ran him out on Willis' instructions in a test match against NZ. "What have you done?" demanded a distraught Boyks. "I've run you out, you c**t".
My comparison with KP was because they both regularly put their own wishes and batting style above what the team needed.
