Smokin' has to be one of their finest. Fabulous Hammond break.

Yes, thats Tom Scholz too! He played everything other than drums on the first album. The "band" Boston didnt really exist when the the first album was launched, it was just Scholz recording everything at home with Jim Masdea on drums and Brad Delp singing. The band had to be put together for touring and to appease the record company, but the first three albums were almost exclusively Scholz. A very talented chap.

Rehearsal tomorrow. Learned some bass lines from Bonnie Raitt, Sheryl Crow, Clapton, Buddy Guy, and Sam Cooke. If I was playing guitar I don't think any of the above would be of interest, but playing the bass has opened my ears a little. Looki
I own an American Jazz Bass. It was actually The Smashing Pumpkins sound on Mellon Collie, that turned me on to it.

When Noel Redding cut loose live, he was absolutely amazing.

I'm mainly a guitarist; 4 Les Paul's, 2 strats, 3 Marshals, Kemper, Helix.

Mainly use the Kemper to record and practice bass, looking to get a bass amp at some point. Ampeg probably.

Used to be a guitarist, had lessons as s sprog. Drifted away from it. Then injured my arms so my right hand doesnt work properly and I cant feel 2 fingers somp when I got back into playing I was struggling. Mrs D suggested trying bass, and dang if she wasn't right - the extra string spacing gives  just enougn that it works for me,

These days I spend most of my playing time on the classical guitar. What seemed like a very wide neck when I started now feels normal (and nice) and all my steel strings and electric guitars feel very cramped! The bass is nice and spacious, too.

I have no hope of mastering anything! :-)

On the classical guitar there are (truly) eight year old kids better than I'll ever be, but I'm enjoying my own journey

I've never been much of an electric lead player, I'm sort of competent, but the bass promises to allow me some musical freedom whilst still playing in the pocket (I was always a very rhythmic lead guitar player, not one to soar above the groove).

For years finger picking an acoustic - ragtime, country blues - has been my thing. I still play this stuff but do it on the nylon string classical.

Arthritis, and aches and pains, are setting in though, and I seem to be able to play around the issues on the bass more. So we shall see where it all leads ..
