Best thing about winter cycling is all the fair weather boys and girls disappear leaving me with nice quite roads. As a result I get scalped a lot less in winter than in summer.

Ho ho ho :-) One of my favourite roads, though the going down it aspect is not the direction in which it's 'fun' (and 'fun' is highly subjective and possibly perverse in this context too). For those who don't know this road and its unwelcome surprise, it's worth also knowing that the section linked above is 20%.

Luckily I'm a total wimp going downhill, but even at my speed that was extremely disconcerting and would have def. been a brown knicker job had I been going only a little bit faster!

Much as I love descending down actual roads (as opposed to tarmaced tracks like the one linked), that would terrify me even without the nasty surprise at the end. Plus I'd probably hit a sheep!
