Wonder how long it'll be before the thaw causes problems and replaces the "Snow" headlines in the news.
Just as soon as it affects people inside the M25. Until then, nothing.

Chris James, Bayerd and I can still report that it's snowing still. Drifting is the new fun! Roads that had been ploughed and gritted over the last couple of days have been covered again. Any roads not sheltered from the easterly that's blowing are seeing drifts building up.

Dropped down to the A640 this morning. It's still bad, and I suspect will look great tomorrow. Charging camera batteries as we speak!

Hmm, all the BBC news reports from Scotland and N England last week must have been a figment of my imagination then .

The snow started a week before Christmas, not last week:smile:

( We still have our Christmas Eve snowman)

I dont trust many of the forcasts out there. I prefer to make my own prediction. Here are some of the sites I use :

Pressure charts:

http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/surface_pressure.html
Radar Images:

And of course, the Weather warnings:

I wouldn't have thought it was super hot enough to cause vast problems with a super sudden thaw up here, but there is a lot of stuff to melt.

It has very slowly started to thaw here now. You can see the middle of the road now at least. It did try snowingnearlier but has stopped and nothing has really stuck. So fingers crossed it won't restart as they predicted snow for today here.

I've got my bike all set anyway. Haven't cycled for nearly two weeks and the last time I was on it I didn't bother to clean it off so my chain had started growng fluffy looking stuff (dried salt I presume) with several stiff links. A clean and lube sems to have put things back to normal.
Changed my pedals over too, put dual sided pedals on in case I decide to wear my hiking boots tomorrow. You never know I might have to walk in places.

Well it's still snowing a good 'un here this morning. We've had a fresh few inches overnight, most of the schools are closed, I'm just setting off to brave the drifts trying to get to work.

I'll take the Muvi to show you all what it's like driving in!

Waheyyy! Got as far as the top of the moorland, couldn't get any further because of the cars parked/abandoned in the drifts. Rang work, no appointments, can work from home today!

Video uploading to Youtube as we speak.

Oh yeah, great thaw!
