Even worse is having kids when all your friends aren't having any. So, you're on one income, totally exhausted with sleepless nights and tied down, while they're bemused at your predicament and nipping off on a bargain skiing holiday.

Worse than that is having friends who can't have kids, who are having fertility treatment and invitro whatnot who don't want to see you because it might upset them seeing your kids. And I'm not joking.

That's very sad, but something that they've got to face up to. There is the risk that they'll never have children, but they can't spend the rest of their lives avoiding children.
