The tall-windowed building was a ‘Primitive Methodist Chapel’

Although, having dug out my old West Yorkshire A-Z (1997 edition), it does indeed mention one in Huddersfield town centre

it's been in this state for a number of years now, after a fire, in which the landlady (of possibly 30+ years?*) was seriously injured, & subsequently died
There are attached 'cottages', that are part of the property, but owned by other tenants
I'd been told it was for sale, so went there deliberately today

I some times think people ought to adopt a local benchmark and keep it visible for others.

The gutted building was a surprise to me, as I only walked past a few weeks ago

Many years ago (& possibly till very recently?), this farm belonged to the family of my oldest, in terms of length of time known, friends
It was co-owned by his grandparents & uncle
(we met at nursery school, so 55+ years ago)
I’ll have to get in touch & ask what’s happening to it

That would be an eight pointed cross, similar to the Maltese Cross.
