Church Of All-Saints
High Street
Normanton
Wakefield

Cherry Blossom
It’s the only tree in the churchyard that’s blooming on the trunk
That was the ‘Keepers’ house behind

The Robin Hood
'Ship Corner' (after another pub that stood nearby, the building is now a private house)
Birkwood Road
Altofts
Wakefield

Note, that the Robin, as well as wearing a quiver of arrows, is standing on a Bow

Seen here, with a more traditional sign, with him in the usual 'Lincoln Green'; https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1405439

The stone house on the right was The Ship; https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1405432

The Old Toll House*
Town Street
Carlton
Rothwell
(south-east of Leeds)

I can remember there being an old stables at the side of this
Old maps on the 'NLS' site show a 'Ropewalk' behind it
(probably where 'Greenfield Produce' is now, along Cemetary Road?)

IMG_7746.jpeg

*I can't find it marked as such, on the maps of the 'NLS' site

It’s almost opposite Pit Field Road; https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1561385

Assembly Street
(as seen from Queen Street car-park)
Normanton
Wakefield

Even though I've walked over there untold times, I'd never noticed the roofline of the building to the right, before today

Ie; 3 stories at the rear, 2 at the street-side

Hatfeild Hall (correct spelling)
Stanley
Wakefield

Now the grounds are owned/used by Normanton Golf Club (who sold their own venue for housing about 30-35 years ago)

It has been an asylum (an ‘annex’ to Stanley Royd) & in the 70s, the HQ of Wakefield Health Authority)

I can remember it being derelict twice, after fires

The 'Folly' can't be reached now, but I've seen it described as a chapel, a coach-house, a stables; https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3231359

* quite surprisingly, Barry Hoban isn't mentioned, as he grew in the village

Lutterworth town centre, on a quick walk while I was at work.
One other, nearby, wasn't found.. Possibly rendered over ☹️

One of the remnants of the Midland Railway branch to the Dom Pedro Colliery (which stood, approximately, where Normanton Industrial Estate is, by jct31/M62)
It's adjacent to the Normanton Bypass/A655, close to Havertop (the main Wakefield Police Station
I pass under it sometimes, whilst dog walking, but it's generally in late spring/summer, as it can be a nuddy mess

Looking towards the bypass
(the corresponding embankments still exist, barring the removed section for the bypass)

We're heading over to Whitby tomorrow
I think, daughter & her chap are driving though, so sadly that'll cut down greatly on what I photograph en-route (I'll try though)
(to my mind, they expected me to drive & also pay for dinner!!)

We're off to look at the venue they've booked for their wedding next year
I'm not sure why we have to look, if they like that's good enough for 'management' & myself

In a way, we're not too happy, be that far away, as her grandparents (my parents, in-laws have both passed) certainly can't travel that far, so will miss it
