I stopped twice today. Once at McDees in King's Lynn for some porridge and a coffee and then again, at Whitwell Station Cafe (near Reepham, Norfolk) for a bit bit of chocolate cake and another coffee.

Velolife in Warren Row. https://www.facebook.com/velolife.co.uk/?fref=ts
Bramley Village Bakery. http://www.bramleybakery.co.uk/
Waterfront Cafe in Benson. http://www.waterfrontcafe.co.uk/
Dragonfly Cafe at Dinton Pastures. http://dintonpastures.co.uk/dragonfly-cafe
The first three I've visited recently, all on social rides. The fourth is often frequented by cyclists but we use more at the end of dog walks, Never bother if I'm soloing
Velolife is extremely popular and located in an old pub which has been converted. Often come across groups who ride out from West London. Not cheap though but we're talking about somewhere close to Henley, Maidenhead, Wokingham etc.
Bramley Village Bakery is great. Decent coffee and an eye-watering array of cakes and home made sandwiches available. Much cheaper than Velolife. The downside is that the main area is under cover outside and peace and tranquility is frequently disturbed by freight trains carrying dubious materials from AWE Aldermaston thrashing through the station on the way presumably to Southampton.
Only visited the Waterfront Cafe once. Pleasant spot on the Thames, but very busy on a Sunday with people out for Sunday lunch.
Dragonfly Cafe has good coffee and does a mean breakfast.

I like a good coffee stop when I'm out with mates but I go with the majority on cafe calls and sometimes don't stop. If I'm on my own though I tend not to stop, mainly due to bike security, though if thats not an issue I'll stop. So I'm a sometimes stop

This is about where I'm at.

There are some popular cafes that are notorious for bike theft, the cafe in Scorton, Lancashire for example. It's near the A6 and a white van can disappear in several directions from the village. It is also close to Lancaster and not far from Preston or even Manchester if thieves fancy a day out nicking bikes.

Yet 500 yards up the hill on the east side of the M6 there's a lovely cafe called The Apple Store where you can sit and keep an eye on your bike and it's unknown to thieves.

I voted never; stops eat into valuable cycling time. The only exceptions are the rare occasions where I join someone else's ride, but if the cafe's in a dodgy-looking spot I'd probably stand guard outside.

I carry all food and water with me. When it's hot enough that I'm going to need a rewatering stop, I normally plan my route around the tap in Upton-upon-Severn. Note the badge on the wall of the cafe on the right.

Haha, yes agree they're not great I get the Canadian maple syrup ones too which are good.
Past few rides at around the 45k point I'm totally running on empty so I've tried few different things , got some sis hydro tablets for my water and I'm having couple snacks too just to boost me a bit towards the end

The coffee stop is an essential moment in the evolution of the "craic" that surrounds each ride. On the Wednesday evening hooligan ride the pub stop fulfils the same function. Anybody who has made an idiot of themselves by, for example, turning out with their tights inside-out or who is showing signs of being on form and is causing others to breathe heavily and suffer distress, gets ribbed by the group. This cements the ride in the group folklore and provides material for mickey-taking at pub or cafe stops in the future. It's simple, do it and enjoy it. Gentle joshing humour is a British trademark and should be celebrated.

It's a rarely for me. When I was working up to my 100 the only time I stopped at a café was on the 100 itself. Was my little treat. Other than that I tend to keep going - but I've just discovered that I need to eat and drink a lot more than I have been doing.
