Yeah it's definitely going to be tough. Maybe excepting it to hurt is half the battle. It should be a good laugh though. And the pain will have subsided by the time we've got a beer in our hands!

Though on reflection going on holiday two weeks before Wales probably isnt the best preparation on my part...
I'm already looking forward to the beer  I can almost taste the cold cider already

Nah, TT is fecked along with the rest of us . It's as if we are all members of some British Empire expeditionary force sent to march 1000's of miles to somewhere distant and cold and wet. Cyclechat squadies is what we are. Lambs to the slaughter and never a more appropriate place to be a lamb slaughtered! I blame Brexit:laugh:

Possibly. I think after my 70 odd mile ride today after 25 last night and a restrained pb up box hill (^_^) that knee will hold but bloody hell, my lower back! I have a whole new physical ailment to go on about:okay: BUT if there is any risk of heavy rain I definitely won't do it.

I'm with you there Bob re: the rain :rain: So not pleasant riding in the rain ... and hail hurts when you're travelling at 20 mph :B) My ailment is a sore neck - after 3 hours I was in agony today hence why I stopped for 30 mins to try and loosen it up a bit. If we can all stick together as long as possible we'll all make it :okay:

Thanks TB. Was 5.5 hours moving, and 30 odd minutes off the bike - loo break, drinks (I haven't managed to learn how to ride and drink/eat), and sheltering from the hail :rain: I'm expecting the 95 miler to take me at least 9 hours so still lots of graft to get the ride completed!

I did the macho Rapha thing of riding long distances in all weathers and have the expensive gear to prove it. I often enjoyed it but 2 bad tumbles in such conditions and months off the bike as a result let me q'ing how sensible it was. Hence the purchase of the bkool pro. A bit of rain is fine but lots and wind on unfamiliar roads will be a step too far.

Try and look down a little and stare through your eyebrows. I have to be careful with my neck posture and I find this works for me.

I'm willing to give anything a go as I was in some pain today. I have ankylosing spondylitis and I think some of the pain and stiffness comes from that too and staying in one position for too long. A few beers after the ride should help with pain relief  Probably shouldn't drink before the ride though

Completely agree Bob. I don't fancy going down steep descents I don't know in the rain at al. I'll pack my rain mac and a mudguard but if the weather looks bleak I'll bail out pretty quick.

I think someone already mentioned stretching out when we have breaks. It's really good advice. My backs not as bad as yours by the the sound of it but I've struggled lately and I've noticed I can keep pain at bay a bit longer by constant stretching. Breaking the ride up into sections with a break and a good stretchy will also hopefully make it less daunting! I'd also recommend getting a cycling cap to wear under your helmet. From one follicly challenged man to another, it soaks up the sweat our long forgotten hair was supposed to do, and keeps it out of your eyes.
