I have to say, and I dont say it by way of criticism, on my ride up Box Hill I was staggered by the finery and expense of the vast majority of the bikes AND their riders! Bike, kit, water bottles , helmets all perfectly coordinated. I was impressed by the effort people had made. I felt positively scruffy
I try to colour coordinate my bike (bottle cages, bottles, saddle bag, tyres, a bit on the saddle, bar tape all matches the celeste splashes on the bike) and I've just got a matching jersey, socks next. Sad I know but why not.

Is there air con on the route? UK bloody heat wave, not adjusting well to the heat surge.

Me either which sounds odd seeing as I've just come back from 30c heat on holiday. With added jet lag I didn't get much sleep last night. Hopefully a day tidying up the garden will be enough to give me a good sleep tonight.

Andy do you have a track pump / are you bringing it with you? I need to deflate my tyres to fit them into the bike box but I think my pumps too bulky to bring along.

Bad news .... looks like the weather is going against us now for the DD. Rain now forecast for Sunday. Gone from beautiful weather to grotty!!! Not good. May be doing the 60 miler if the weather does turn out to be as bad as they are predicting :banghead:

It's only showers, and it'll be warm showers, so think of it more as a 'spa' day ;-) You might be greatful of the cooling affect of the rain as you climb those hills, just scrub the speed off on the descents!!

It's only fair you ride with spongy tyres give us a chance to keep up ! And it's kinder on the rear

Dont build up your expectations of me too high Berty. You'll only be left disappointed when you see me puffing and wheezing at the sight of the first hill!

We might get lucky Whorty. If you can buy an 'ass saver' type mud guard that folds under the saddle from Halfords or somewhere. And you you have a waterproof that you can tuck away? I think it'll be fine.

If not, like you say. win or lose, on the booze!
