How would you like your bike to be generated from a printer? Hmmm...

Scroll down to the second image to see it. I think the chain needs tightening up though ;-)


I can understand the advantage of 3-D printing for producing small numbers of an item (no expensive tooling) but I can't see the advantage for a bike.

It is possible to make any beam (eg bike frame tubing) stronger and/or stiffer and/or lighter by dividing it down into smaller and smaller triangulated segments, rather like a Moulton's space frame or a trussed bridge. 3D printing is ideal for this.
