*Dumb question alert*

Are they like the newer tube trains or are they trains like trains, or are they something else, or what, exactly?

Mmm, about the same time as it takes the 4 mile bus journey from 'snuffy Arrod' to Accrington bus depot.🤔

Thanks.

That has reminded me of the problem with these things:
"Like other contemporary commuter rolling stock orders, the trains are open gangway, with no doors between carriages. There are no toilets of any type on these trains."
Fine for a 10-20min tube journey - not so great for an hour. And of course there is no warning of this "feature" as you wait at Ealing Broadway, assuming it's just a normal train 🤦‍♀️
With "open gangway", they'd only need one per train. <sigh>

I'd hope they are driverless like the DLR

They are NOTHING like the DLR.
The DLR is an amusing toy railway. These are proper trains.

Yeahbut with the DLR you can sit at the front, strap your pretend train cab control panel in and pretend to be the driver.
I wonder if impersonating a train driver is an offence?

I will no doubt use it when I am in London

However, I wish the money had been spent in regions of the UK which have vastly lower levels of per capita public transport spending

It was £1,476 in London and £785 in SE England. It was £477 in my region

One benefit for me is that on the rare occasion I need to get to Canary Wharf or Custom House I can do it directly from Paddington (and ultimately even from Reading) without having to change to the DLR.

But on the downside, you won't be able to pretend to be the driver.
