Clear skies here in Perth Here's my attempt at a photo, the day after they were at their closest. Difficult to focus on such tiny objects but you can just about make out some of Jupiter's moons.

That's basically what I saw this evening but a lot smaller in my 9x 35 binoculars .

I've been enjoying the memes on FB... one claims the last time this happened was when Galileo was alive, another claims it hasn't happened since the dark ages. The festive one claims the last time it happened it was called 'the star of bethlehem'.... so we've got around 500 years ago, between 1500 and 500 years ago, and around 2000 years ago... and it won't happen again for 60 years!

According the R4, it happens every 20 years or so. We need some consistency!

It must have been a pretty busy night's sky 2000 years ago if it was the star of Bethlehem along with Haley's Comet .

Saw Jupiter, Saturn and Mars on my walk home from work. Venus has been really bright in the mornings, too.

I think I may be suffering from Conjunctionitis as I keep looking out for them when we have a clear sky .
