Finally R2 has his companion:

Great builds both. Getting threepio's arm to articulate to R2 was a bit of a faff though. R2 has also had an internal rebuild using a rebrickable MOC so that his third leg can be retracted..

Now a dilemma...

Just had my birthday and received this bad boy Lego 42175

Volvo FMX Truck & EC230 Electric Excavator

:

It looks like a fun build and has some great parts in it but...

I'm not a megafan of technic trucks. I was hoping for the NASA Artemis kit, although I'm very much in two minds because it isn't to scale with the Saturn and it's apparently a really boring build. The powers that be did say that I could change the set if I wanted to. Another potential direction is the Merc AMG F1 kit, but I already have the generic F1 42000 kit and the senna kit and the mini mclaren not to mention the green le mans (42039) on my shelf.

I'm half tempted to keep and build. The pneumatics look fun etc. Half tempted to swap...

Don't be ungrateful 🤭 Build it, you know you want to. Everytime I go to the eldest lads I'm met by a giant At-At.

Mmmmm..... giant At At..... want.....

No. I have no room. I need a lego room!

I'm building the Orrery at the moment. Slightly disappointed with the Sun. I'm feeling a MOC coming on...

And it's a lovely build. I'll be interested to see what you think when it's finished.

Plan is to incorporate a bluetooth speaker. Most with a decent sound seem to be too big as supplied but there are plenty of YouTube videos showing how to strip them down, just getting rid of the case reduces their size as supplied.

Completed. Main issue I found was the removable back too easily splits when removing.
Resolved by positioning the joining plates across the joints rather than along them. That back is a good example of Lego using unnecessary parts with the inner top edge surround having 6 parts where 3 would suffice.
Added four 2x2 brown bricks to the underside to act as feet.

What do you think of the action on the sound brick?

Just been playing it, seems like the same track at times. A bit like flipping through the car radio and finding GHR or Capital on different transmitters all sightly out with each other. A bit strange with it click jumping along the dial.

It's the click jump that I find a bit frustrating. I think the brick just picks a sample at random. It's a shame it isn't programmable. I know part of the issue is the design of the sound brick.

It got me first time, thought I was going to break it. Is really just a gimmick. Ordered a smallish Bluetooth speaker for it. I do have one but invariably a hunt of the house is needed to find it. This is big enough not to go missing.
