Do those cords have a volume control, they need turning down a bit?

That reminds me of when colour tv's first came out in Britain in the late 1960's. My cousin's parents bought one. They had the colour turned up to the maximum, with characters looking like they had fire flames following them.😲 They said 'We've paid for a colour licence and we're going to have bloody colour'!!! 🤣 Believe it or not, they are actually brighter 'in the flesh'! 😲 My phone's camera doesn't do them justice!🧐 😉

How times have changed I bought a pair of bright red cords in 1979 to go with my fluorescent green mohair jumper in the height of my punk days.

OK, forget the Clouseau mac. How about this? My thoughts are High Plains Drifter, or The Outlaw Josey Wales.😏

If you want something like that keep an eye on ebay and Vinted for a 90s Backhouse of New Zealand one, they were imported by Barbour when they couldn't keep up with demand for their own version.

Mine kept me dry walking the dog for half an hour yesterday in the storm.

Linen is durable until you get it wet, after all it is vegetable fibre, on the other hand it isn’t attacked by clothes moths and resists tearing and abrasion much better than cotton or wool, add silk for hang and feel and you have a perfect material for suits, if you can afford it.

Thanks - that was pretty much my understanding.

It's nice and soft too and I've really become a fan over the past few years; bought linen bedclothes a while ago and really like them, although as you suggest they weren't cheap.

Would continue to bide my time and see what comes up used in terms of suits..

On other fronts there have been some inevitable failings; some of the stuff I've bought has proven to be non-viable due to fit / quality / degradation issues. I reckon about 50% of the polonecks probably need to go, while I think now I have more of an idea of what I want / sizing I need to look to spend more on new / higher-end used gear rather than playing the ebay lottery on used stuff if it can't easily be quantified / assessed.

I'll certainly be avoiding all high street brands apart from Uniqlo (which on top of my own findings I've heard nothing but praise for from those in the know). While I have a couple of older H&M jumpers that have faired well the two cotton polonecks I have from the same place don't fit particularly well and have gone baggy around the neck.

I have had a love for well made clothes since my teens and was fortunate to be able to invest in quite a few bits and pieces in my 20's and 30's which are still in great condition and look the part. If anyone is able, making that initial outlay on good quality items certainly saves money long term.

Uniqlo is my go to for everyday staples as well as Arket. I find the quality for both far exceeds other high street brands at the same price point. The Uniqlo chinos and cotton oxfords are a particular favourite of mine for work.

Sartorial enthusiasts, I seek advice.

I will be attending a Silent Disco this afternoon with my wench and my daughter.

My current plan is to wear double denim, which I described as a powerful look to my offspring, to be met with the gloriously scathing,

"Is it though?"

So what does one wear to an afternoon rave?

I figured I might ask here, because the last time I asked my daughter for style advice I dyed my beard pink and ended up shaving it off when it faded and I looked a complete fool.

Have a look at this! There are plenty of double denim ideas for you!😉
