My wife has insisted that I get some posh yet trendy yet practical traditional footwear. Do we need a separate "gentlemen's footwear" thread or is it a fabric safe topic.

Sartorial enthusiasts, I seek advice.

I will be attending a Silent Disco this afternoon with my wench and my daughter.

My current plan is to wear double denim, which I described as a powerful look to my offspring, to be met with the gloriously scathing,

"Is it though?"

So what does one wear to an afternoon rave?

I figured I might ask here, because the last time I asked my daughter for style advice I dyed my beard pink and ended up shaving it off when it faded and I looked a complete fool.

How did it go, and did you sport a Canadian Tuxedo as planned?

She did find some splendid Goodyear welted 4 hole chukka boots in burgundy, handmade in Japan in French leather by US brand John Lofgren. One of our local mens boutiques had them in stock so after much umming and urring of size I splashed out on Size 9.
It took a few weeks to break in but they seem perfect as winter everyday wear inc urban cycling.

Whilst they are goodyear welted (some of them) and made in Northampton they are all a bit flamboyant for my more conservative taste. No idea of the quality without seeing them up close. Price seems reasonable, and with perhaps less of a brand premium compared to Crockett's or Church's, assuming the quality is there

I've got some Jeffrey West shoes. They look the part but as I only keep them for best I can't vouch for how durable they are. The soles are leather and very thin at that so I wouldn't expect a lot of wear out of them. I agree that some of the boots in particular are a bit OTT and they can give off the impression that the wearer is trying a bit too hard to look cool.

I wore purple, lilac, pink and bottle green today. On my way to Elan Boutique in Clitheroe Lancs, as in walking from my car to the place I was stopped by a group of Clitheroe Grammar School pupils, who complimented me on my look and colour co-ordination. How polite and observant of them!!🧐 😉👍
