Black is fine with a blue tweed suit, like the rather fine one I bought on your recommendation. But that said, I reckon brogues or semi-brogues would be better than plain oxfords if worn with tweed. Plain black Oxfords are arguably the most formal style so are better with a business suit or for black tie events

I found a pair of black Loake 1880 Oxfords a few years ago, in the retro clothing shop I work in. They were in my 10 size and looked hardly worn. Perfect for £30 or so, but unfortunately they had slippery leather soles, so I didn't buy them. I could've had rubber Vibram soles fitted in one of the nearby Timpson shoe repairs etc places for £35. Damn! Why didn't I think of doing that at the time!🙄

I've just bought these, plus a Loake suede brush.

At that reduction I couldn't resist. Yes, I have a pair of dark brown Loake suede shoes, but I've always fancied some monkey strap shoes, especially the double strap ones.😉

I hope I’m not encouraging you to spend all your savings.🤣🤣🤣🤣

Ah, I remember Saturday and Sunday evenings in the 1960's, watching that on our late 1950's, 14 inch, one minute to warm up then come on, black and white television!🧐

😉

Yup
The one we had as a kid - in the 1960s - sometimes needed a good bang to get it working properly

I was the only one that had the knack to do it first time

had to be firm and precise

The kids nowadays just wouldn;t understand!!!

Me and my brother used our 1950's tv in our bedroom, after mum and dad bought a new black and white tv in 1972. We used an affective wire coat hanger for an aerial.😉

Mmm, thirty pounds with a fiver off for my first order coupon is quite tempting!🤔 I like the Detachable collar as I could take it off to hand wash it, if it gets a bit grubby, but the shirt is ok.

These sell some nice 1930's, 1940s style items, but I'm not paying £120 for a Shirt! My shirts are always from the retro clothing shop I work in, or from charity shops.

Shirts - Vintage 1930s linen shirt, Workwear shirts, cotton Henley – Oldfield Outfitters https://share.google/R7yx4p6iSZYVU10e7

This is very nice, but to me, it's something I'd buy as a 'selfie present' for a birthday or Christmas. 😉

I remember looking at the Revival suits when they had a stall at Leyburn 40s weekend, they were nice quality and around £400 for a three piece.

Considering events took a knock after covid, and aren't back to the way they were, it's nice to see that they're still in business.

Three of their shirts for roughly a hundred quid is a decent price, I'd say! 😉 The three I've linked aren't too dressy, or too casual, so I'd say they could be worn with either tweed, or 'town and city' suits/jackets.
