Dogtrousers

Lefty tighty. Get it righty.
Years ago I had a coat of that nature. It was amazingly complex, made of so many bits of fabric. With odd, seemingly pointless, buttons in unusual places. Fancy flaps and folds, little dangly tags. Even epaulettes too. But altogether not terribly practical and just a bit annoying. I wore it for one winter then it went to the charity shop.

I love mine, it's all long and swishy. I have to be careful though, if it's raining with low winter sun and I wear my rain hat and sunglasses, I end up looking like I'm in Spy vs Spy.

Those Solovair boots and shoes are Goodyear Welted, so by rights the soles can be replaced when they wear out.🤔

You can order replacement soles from Solovair to take to your local cobbler for fitting. As for whether they're true monkey boots with these soles on, they have to have them or they wouldn't be Solovair, would they? Clue's in the name.

Honestly, DMs are passé now, all the cool kids are wearing Solovair. They're one of those IYKYK brands, nod and a wink when you see the green tag.

I’m sorry they are not Monkey boots. Doc Martins didn’t make them and they had thinner sole.
Also they were worn by Skinhead girls.🧑‍🦲

The original monkey boots were made by a smallish firm whose name I can’t remember. They were popular with shipyard workers, pre-PPE era, because they were flexible and easy to climb scaffolding in, hence monkey.

Exactly what shape are your toes?

perfectly normal, the pointy bit simply extends beyond what'd be the rounded end of boring shoes

I've just bought these, plus a Loake suede brush.

At that reduction I couldn't resist. Yes, I have a pair of dark brown Loake suede shoes, but I've always fancied some monkey strap shoes, especially the double strap ones.😉

The shoes arrived yesterday. I was surprised on opening them as they are a much lighter shade of brown than I thought they'd be! Which isn't a bad thing as after ordering them I did wonder if they'd be the same shade of brown as my lace up, suede Loake shoes, which isn't what I wanted.
