Mmm, those ox-blood ones I linked are tempting, but are they me, as I often ask? I think the answer is no, they aren't you, but we'll see what others think.🤔

Unless you are going with Levi stay press, a Ben Sherman shirt, Harrington jacket and a pork pie hat. Then it’s probably a no go.😉

If you do get them then I'd size down. Go by dress shoe size rather than trainer or normal boot size. I bought size 8 and still need to wear them with an insole and thick socks. Should have gone for 7.5 or even 7. I'm a 7.5 in dress shoes and 8.5 in trainers usually. I don't think this applies to the entire range but specifically to the monkey boots.

I do wear mine to work with a jacket and tie etc, but I expect my vibes are a bit different to yours.

If I'm not mistaken Solovair is where Doc Martens were made until the name and production were moved abroad, so they're basically original Doc's under a new name
Edit: Doc's Bovva Boots were banned at our school, now they're £179 a pair!

I saw some purple Doc Martens style boots in a shop before Christmas. I went in, thinking about trying a pair on, but the biggest they had was in a size 8 as they were ladies!!😯 🤣

OK, how about these, instead of the Keaton and the aubergine brogues?🤔 I'm thinking those aubergine ones could be too wide in their G width. As @Hover Fly stated, I've had G width shoes before that didn't look too good. My thoughts are, with the below being in 'Rosewood', they have a bit of the Keaton and the Aubergine brogue in them.🤔

The Herring shoes are nice but… I still prefer the Barker Keaton.
I really like the look of the Barker Keaton shoes and I also have a firm reason to support my preference.
The Herring shoes are an Oxford style whereas the Keaton are a Derby. I find that a Derby is so much easier to put on and remove, no shoe horn required and there is more adjustment of how tight or loose one wishes to do up the laces for comfort.

The Keaton ones have a more rounded toe, whereas the Herring ones are more pointed, which I do prefer. As I look down at my shoes, with rounded ones I see wide, short feet. With more pointed ones I see long, slim feet. I know some will say that's how I see it, but others don't, but it still plays on my mind. As you know with me, I take ages to make decisions, so I could still be asking questions/for opinions in a week's time!😉

Maybe buy the Keaton shoes and the monkey boots? 🤔 Both have slightly rounded toes though.🙄 😬

Some here seem to have leather soles. As far as I can remember, monkey boots had Doc Marten, airwear type soles.🤔

I once had a pair of tricker's monkey boots, off ebay which they apparently made as a special order item. They were extremely high quality as you'd expect, and very appealing and smart but sadly were way too small for me so had to go back (or maybe I sold them on)- I suspect the label was American sizing rather than UK so a full size too small. Tricker's are way better quality than DMs or whatever

Unless they've improved the durability of the soles since I wore them in the 70s then £179 is a p1ss take. Great looking boots, super comfortable and an iconic brand and image, but the soles and heels wore out in no time and were unrepairable. They were also deadly in rain, snow or ice when the treads had gone smooth.

I can't remember how much the Doc Martens I had were circa 1979/80 but I feel certain they weren't the equivalent of £179, people used to buy them as work boots then
