Or the same one, but with a different headband.

Mmm, which one should I choose if I decide to buy one, I ask? 🤔

Too much to pay for a 'straw hat' I think, so I've just bought the one below instead. I could've bought it for a tenner less here...

but I much prefer the 60 cms size to the 61 cms, as a tighter fit with a lightweight hat ensures less chance of it being blown off one's head in strong summer breezes! 🧐 :okay:

I got a pair of these recently and have to say they are the most comfortable pair of shoes I've ever worn.

My Mum was proudly sporting hers when I visited, she was very pleased she didnt have to bend down to put them on. "Slip-ins" I think they are called.

I can just imagine the ponk my feet will give off wearing anything like that, I prefer leather over textiles, but suffer cycling shoes, especially when i take 'em off!

I hate wearing a hat - will put up witha hood on a coat when it is raining - and will wear a cap when it is hot and sunny

but I don;t like it

as far as shoes goes - I have wide feet and also have problems with them if they are at all tight at any point - hence I normally wear shoes at least 1/2 size bigger than a size machine says
and my cycling shoes are 1 1/2 sizes too big
all just to make them fit

I normally wear very soft trainers - or wide fitting walking shoes it is is wet or cold
When I was a teacher - and hence on my feet most of the day - I always wore Clarks wide fitting shoes - still 1/2 size too big normally
I used to keep an eye out for sales and bought them if I saw them
not elegant but at least they don;t make my feet hurt

so stuff elegance and style - I just like things that fit!

It arrived yesterday. Nice, but Panama hats are so light and flimsy, granted for obvious reasons. Yes, a lot of work goes into making them, but I think the 75 pounds I paid is enough for a hat that can only be worn on warm dry not too windy days. If you wear genuine Panamas in the rain you might as well chuck them away after, as they start to disintergrate if they meet heavy rain. Maybe there are Panama hat rain covers out there you quickly put over your hat if it's hit by a sudden shower. 🤔

Will Accy buy one of those?
Me I have my pith helmet, it's great for sun, rain ,sunny rain & Rainey Sun.
Keeps me cool when it's soaked in clean water, offers shade to my head and neck, and because of the stiff brim keeps umbrellas' out of my eyes, also offers some bump protection when walking into low pub's and buildings.
Not good for cycling as the wind catches & blows off!

I have thought about one in the past. I prefer the khaki one to the white one. Would I feel confident enough to wear it though? 🤔 Mmm, maybe it's like the two deerstalkers I have, where I take them out with me then put them on, then take them off before I arrive home. I have some very weirdo neighbours who seem to find such items eccentric and open to ridicule, so best to not let them see me in such hats.🧐

I'm on the verge of buying this monocle. I thought about this one https://www.monoclemadness.co.uk/products/gold-monocle-chain?variant=42184209367196 but it's just the same as the one below, but with a gold chain. I have a long thin 9 carat gold chain so why buy a gold plated one I ask. 🧐

How Do You Wear A Monocle?

The monocle should not be 'gripped' using the muscles around the eye. The gallery (the raised top and bottom rim of the monocle) should be horizontal and is there to keep the lens away from the eye for improved comfort and a more secure fit.
Step 1:Hold the monocle eyepiece by the loop where the pendent meets the monocle (See FIG. 01.) and 'tip it' so the top gallery makes contact first with the loose skin between the eyebrow and the top of the eyelid.Step 2:Then with a slight upward motion the bottom gallery should be brought in to contact with the skin at the bottom of the eye socket.Step 3:
With practice, this quick and easy manoeuvre will hold the monocle loosely but firmly in place.
You might also want to try placing the bottom gallery on the upper cheek first (See FIG. 02.) and then place the upper gallery in position whilst raising the eyebrow.
You might also find it easier initially if the monocle is placed closer to the corner of the eye, just play around within the mirror and experiment.
When the monocle is in position in front of the eye, both eyes should remain open. You will then find your brain compensates for both reading sight (through the monocle) and natural distance vision as seen through the unaffected eye and surprisingly you can see both without blurring.
