They arrived yesterday. They feel very robust and fit perfectly. I didn't know they were/are Goodyear Welted, but you can tell with the weight and trying experimentally without success to try and bend the sole they are. That might mean they'll take some breaking in, so I'll have to be in pain for a while, while doing so.

I had them re-heeled yesterday. £20 for both shoes which isn't bad at all! The left shoe's heel had worn down to a paper thin width, with the right shoe not being that bad, but while I was there I decided to have both done to match them up.😉

I have gone kind of the opposite way to you. I use to wear sharp suits as it was required for the job I was in for my sins in my previous life working as a relationship manager for a bank dealing with affluent clients. However since taking voluntary redundancy few years back I have hanged all my suits for good and just wear casual clothes. I would suggest smart casual works well and I think a good tweed jacket would be a good addition to your wardrobe. It goes well with both chinos as well as smart jeans . If you really want to make an impression then a matching tweed jacket and waistcoat is a formidable combo and will certainly elevate you to desirable levels with the opposite sex.
