So it's either time to get the rain jackets out, or we'll only have three entrants to the challenge this year!
Here in the Dales there has not been a single day so far where I deemed the ice risk to be 'very low or better'. Today is warm but very wet. Tomorrow is very wet. Then Wednesday looks to be cold again, at about 3-4C, but still above freezing on the high bits, so I am hoping to get out then. Failing that, as you say, wet weather kit will be employed: not appealing :-\

Not sure which way I’m heading, but we may cross paths.

I’ve been putting it off because of ice. By the look of the next two weeks forecast it’ll be my first damp 100 in a long while.

Commiserations chaps. I wouldn’t have been to head your direction this year yet. I managed one ride around Kendal and another on the Fylde. The latter is ok for a change but I miss the hills!

After finishing the Festive 500 I was in bed for a day with a cold/mild flu, which Im now suspecting has been Covid. Two weeks on and still absolutely knackered just getting through a working day and a commute ride. Hoping the weather and energy levels allow me to get one in before the end of the month.

I’m in! More ice around than I expected, but made it round safely.
Chilly 105km to Barlick for a bargain breakfast at Esse Factory cafe - £7.50 including toast and a mug of tea.

weathers looking decidedly iffy over the next 2 weekends so i might have to swap again to the lunacy challenge this year.

That's my worry as well. Next weekend is likely to have overnight freezing temps and I'm busy for most of the 31st, so it's this weekend or not at all. It's annoying that Friday looks really good for a ride but I don't think my employer would look too kindly on me skiving off work!

Maybe a consensus due to weather of doing 2 another month to make up ? Obviously up to the powers that be I know the point of the challenge is to overcome the weather . I couldn't do a100 km on the turbo as I don't have room for a permanent set up

Lefty tighty. Get it righty.

Personally, I wouldn't object to other people playing an emergency card to do two in a month.

I'm aware that I have things relatively easy living where I do, with nicer weather and access to flatness. So it wouldn't be right for me to vote against things that are needed by people who live in grimmer places. ;)

Mind you, I don't have things all my own way. I'm a rubbish cyclist so riding 100k is much harder and takes much longer than most.

Apologies but I'm not as laid back as @Dogtrousers. Like many, even down here (south coastal Devon), the days for getting a ride in have been precious few. Either it's too cold (I've had full on frostbite in three toes and nip in the rest) or it's warm enough but lots of rain. Suddenly this morning I saw a window and went for it just before noon. First three hours were sunny but the last 90 minutes were wet and cooler as dusk turned to dark.
If a rider can't get a single outdoor 100km ride in per month, this challenge is not for them, imho.
But there's still 14 days in January and the days are getting longer.

On the board with a January 100km ride for the first time in four years! Lots of flooded roads, some of which were so long and/or deep that a U-turn was the only sensible route to take, but I still ended up going through a fair few of them because I'm like that.

I had a couple on my ride last weekend. It's a road that often floods and does have a good (but busy A road) alternative. I was lucky in both cases that there was a vehicle coming the other way and I could watch it come through and see that they were long but not deep and didn't have any obvious potholes. Still a bit nerve wracking riding through.
