Nope, at least not yet. Too much chatting on this thread as opposed to the important one - see challenge thread now (I will delete the spurious text idc).

Yes somewhat surprising to me I managed to get out on the first of each month so far. Very lucky with the weather given what others have encountered this year so far.

Lefty tighty. Get it righty.

Me too. I've had two slightly chilly, slightly damp rides. Nothing really wintery, just slightly grotty.

It did rain heavily enough for a while on Sunday to give my Garmin 1040 an attack of the funnies. Water blocks the barometer port and the altimeter goes wonky. I was struggling up one of the steeper bits (about 12-14% maybe) and I looked at the Garmin and it said -2%. I think the silicone case exacerbates the problem. I stopped at the top of the hill and took the case off and dried the gps. At that point there's a spike where the elevation on the track suddenly catches up with reality.

I'm fairly confident that this was the first properly sunny day of the year here in the Dales. There's been some sunshine, but not a proper, day-long high pressure system with no chance of rain and minimal wind. Very good to get out in such fine weather. Admittedly, being a February high, it was a tad chilly: 0C, according to my house's thermometer, when I set off at 1300, dropping quickly to minus 2C and minus 3C for the majority of the ride, with a whimsical minus 4C and minus 5C on the way back over Newby Head, for about an hour or so. Still, I'm very much not complaining as, in every other respect, it was an excellent February 100km :-)

I passed only one other cyclist, but a lot of walkers around Ribblehead. I suppose it was really more a walking-optimised day than a road cycling one!

Was indeed a lovely day in the Dales, but I was put off by the ice outside my house, so had a pleasant stroll instead.

I left it 'til 1300 so that the salt/grit had time to be well worked in. I'd certainly not have been venturing onto untreated roads. As it was, Ingleton to Newby Head was entirely dry, though with ice on the verges. Newby Head to Hawes had damp bits, but only about 5% of the road, and very definitely salty water, not ice. The A road through Wensleydale was decidedly wetter and I turned back short of my target (Leyburn) in case it re-froze at dusk. The whole valley had large tracts of ice over the fields. Ribblehead down to Selside was totally dry too. Essentially, all the south facing, exposed areas were fine and the sheltered bits were less so, as you'd probably expect.
