I'm fairly confident that this was the first properly sunny day of the year here in the Dales. There's been some sunshine, but not a proper, day-long high pressure system with no chance of rain and minimal wind. Very good to get out in such fine weather. Admittedly, being a February high, it was a tad chilly: 0C, according to my house's thermometer, when I set off at 1300, dropping quickly to minus 2C and minus 3C for the majority of the ride, with a whimsical minus 4C and minus 5C on the way back over Newby Head, for about an hour or so. Still, I'm very much not complaining as, in every other respect, it was an excellent February 100km :-)
I passed only one other cyclist, but a lot of walkers around Ribblehead. I suppose it was really more a walking-optimised day than a road cycling one!
