Ah, they'll be wanting those to aid their retreat. They're issued with several sets of alternative unit and flag decals for when they change side.

Looks like the first requirement would be to grow a large and impressive moustache.

At some point, if you were in the British Army and could grow a moustache, you had to.

After 1916, it was actually banned to have one. They prevented an air tight seal with gas masks, so were banned.

But as with all these things, it explains why they were still popular after the war.

Everyone I knew that joined the army in the 80’s and 90’s came back with a tache not long after.

Some are long gone, but I've never purchased a Brommie due to the crap conditions of my environment. I have/had more, but these are some of what I personally ride. The 26" wheeled Tern Joe P24 being the most comfortable for me.

@Drago - I read this glowing review of the ID9, but they did suggest that it might not suit riders over 6' tall. What height are you, 6' 4" was it? How do you feel about the size issue?

I'm asking because I was chatting to someone recently who is 6' 2" tall, loves Bromptons, but can't afford one. I was thinking of suggesting the ID9 or even the ID8. He is in a small upstairs flat so a folding bike would be good for him.

I'm a smidge under 6'4", 35" i side leg,and it fits me fine, though I doubt anyone taller would have any more extension left on the seat post. I did wonder what they were whittling about.

A longer seatpost would accommodate taller riders, coupled with a riser handlebar for a Dahon or Tern 20" folder.

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
I have a folding ebike. A wiper 806 torque with 20 inch wheels. Not light, but I can put it into the boot of my car without too much trouble

I've had it for about 7 years now and it tends to attract quite a bit of interest from people who see it.

I sent him a link to the ID8 on the Halfords website. He said that he is going to go and check one out 'in the flesh'!
