Interesting. Frame looks like the old Intercity, and folds the opposite way from the disc models, i.e the catch is on the other side.
Also the telescopic stem/steerer seems to have a larger adjustment range.

And, it's a little hard to tell from the photos but it seems that the bars now fold inside the two halves of the frame. The bars pass in front of the front forks on the far side:

It was a downside of the ID9 IMHO that the bars fold outside as it makes the folded package a bit wider and wastes a little space. The original non-disc Intercity did fold the bars inside and I always assumed the disc models didn't because of the wider forks.

From the photo however it looks like they telescope the bars further inside the tube so that they now clear the brakes. Clever.

There's no spec sheet yet but it looks like the only other substantive change is Sora to Microshift gears but still 1x9 and it's still got Tektro hydro discs.

None im afraid. The old ID9 was fairly svelte, measured mine at 11.5kg ready to ride, cant see the new IC2 being weighty.

The webpage still says the Intercity 1 (7-speed and mechanical disc brakes) is back in stock from August, but the page will let you arrange collection from this Thursday 17th July.

I did have the random idea about maybe buying the limited availability Intercity 1 rather than waiting until September, but then pinching the hydraulic brakes off one of my old bikes in the shed, perhaps also pinching the 8-speed shifter and cassette off my old Voodoo fatbike.

But I've no idea of the gear/brake routing design on folding bikes full stop and I'd be relying on being able to transplant the brakes as they are.

The blurb reckons the Intercity 1 is 15Kg, but Halfords are not reknowned for decent ballpark weight, for instance my Voodoo Wazoo wasn't 16.5Kg as supplied and the 2023ish Carrera ID9 was lighter than the quoted 13Kg by reviewers.

Thinking I might sell my ID9. Much as I adore it, and used it greatly at first, my Dad has now moved to a different part,of the UK so Im no longer making monthly train journeys down to see him.

Standard seat post, all the way down its touches the floor, which it's supposed to as it supports on end of the bike when folded.

How long is it?

My niece's boyfriend is ~1.92 m tall (6' 3" ish) and leggy. He has just bought a tatty cheap used folding bike which I have been checking over for him. I am about 6 cm shorter than him and have slightly short legs for my height (made up for by a longer torso) and even I find the saddle 6 or 7 cm too low at maximum saddle height. The seatpost fitted is 60 cm long so I reckon he could do with one around 75 cm in length and with a decent amount of setback to get him sitting further back.

Any ideas on where to find a cheap 75 cm post, 30.4 mm diameter, with significant setback?

I will keep on looking but haven't found one yet. I suspect that if the post is not replaced he will either ride around with his knees sticking out (he already has pain in his knees from other sports so that would not be a good idea) OR raise the post way too high and risk a serious failure.

The bike isn't good enough to spend much cash on but £20-25 might be acceptable to him.

The one on my halfway is 29.2 mm and 560mm good luck in finding one at 750cm
