This happened to a helicopter near Bridlington yesterday

You don't need to know much about helicopters to know that isn't how it left the factory.

Back in October 2021, this happened to a similar helicopter near Cleethorpes

In both cases, no one was hurt - which is, of course, the main thing.

Yes. An autorotation in training - where the pilot (or instructor) counts down to the start and where the pre-autorotation HASEL checks have been properly completed - is largely uneventful.

Dealing with a helicopter full of passengers that suddenly and unexpectedly goes wrong in a way that requires a full down autorotation is a very, very different kettle of fish.

Spotted this evening over the Selby area, a Hawker Hurricane, unmistakable engine sound and wing shape
Edit It seems there’s an air show on at Breighton Airfield this weekend with a Hurricane in attendance

Travelling home from Athens last week I noticed my daughters tracking our incoming plane on their phones using an app called Flightradar24 ...
I'm now addicted to it, with these clear skies at present I'm quite happy sat in the back garden whilst identifying the overhead planes & their routes !!! 😂

It "detects" military stuff that F24 is set to ignore

Detects Police Helicopter as well - which can be interesting!

It is not as "nice" in some ways - but the "military only" can be interesting - at the start of the Ukraine problems you could see the B52 and B1 bombers and their refuelling planes heading out from the UK
but they seemed to have changed the policy about their beacons recently

Sad occurrence at Shuttleworth this weekend. The Comet racer appears to have flipped nose first on landing. Bad news for the aircraft but fortunately pilot is ok.
