Morning folks :okay: have been enjoying the sunny weather and doing my usual rides over the hills, one thing that has livened it up...is i get dive bombed by a buzzard! It [they] must have a nest in some pine trees and each time i ride by im seen off as they swoop inches of my noggin, yesterday i saw its raptor shadow on the road before it attacked.

Question! bottle cage mount holes- are they always the same distance apart? i was looking at some retro cages but didnt know if they would fit.

Ooh! got my lovely Ortlieb back roller plus CR panniers through the post in chilli red the best colour! :okay:

Bottle cage mounts are normally the same spacing.

Every bottle cage I've fitted has been standard. I doubt there are variations.

I once watched two magpies give a raptor a serious mobbing. I was on a Sustrans route in Cumbria, an old railway line where the tree canopy had grown over forming a tunnel. Suddenly two magpies appeared mobbing the raptor. Each time the raptor flew into a tree the magpies followed and forced it out again. This went on for about a mile until we reached a break in the tree canopy and the raptor escaped.

I too have a question. My smart watch is dieing, it's 9 years old so I guess I've had my monies worth. The main issue is connecting with Garmin and only the centre of the touch screen works. I've decided to get a new one. My needs are very simple:

GPS enabled sufficient to track a bike ride - I rarely use this feature but like it as back up should my Wahoo fail
Again GPS enabled to record a walk, distance, route, time elapsed, pace, HR max and avg. I use this feature
Able to record a physical activity such as my morning exercise routines. This only needs to be time, HR max, HR avg and calories, far from essential.

I know there are many watches that will sing, dance and take me out to dinner. What I really want is something value for money and covering these basics.

Maybe something like the Garmin Forerunner 55?

Isn't there an elongated slot in the cage, too, to aid slight variation in frame spacing? 🤔

Some have adjustable holes/slots, but generally they are all the same.

Still feeling rubbish
In my opinion I caught a cold from someone at The Wedding
my wife's family are very huggy so it is quite possible

my wife is still pushing the theory that it is an allergy caused by the feather duvet and pillows in the hotel

which I am not sure about

anyway - she is off to afternoon tea with her friend
last time they went to Chester and came back through the Mersey Tunnels
so this time I am picking them up!!

anyway - I was planning a bike ride while they are out
trying to work out if I have the energy - even if I up the motor assist on the ebike!
