Tie it to the price of Westminster expenses claims and I'd be jolly wealthy.

The land out of the backof us is probably safe

It used to be the chemical dump for most of Widnes and Runcorn

It was converted into a golf course
but apparently there were signs along the stream telling people NOT to get their balls out if they went in
(stop sniggering at the back - I know who you are!!!)

because the stream, and especially the mud at the bottom, were heavily contaminated with arsenic

it has been fixed - mainly by closing the golf course and dropping the stream down by several meters

but I doubt they will get permission to build houses there!
I doubt it!
Local council have given planning permission for housing on what was the council tip. At the end of the 1800's there used to be a fair sized house on part of it. Wire works, iron works and carpet works were just some of the industries on the same site.

At the back of our house is 'Peel Hall Park' which is all green belt.
It hasn't stopped some big London developer getting the ok to build 1800 houses.
They have already ripped down countless trees and bushes many of which have nesting birds in.
The Peel Hall group gave complained to the council who have responded by doing absolutely nothing.

Then they have the temerity to name the new roads after the destroyed habitat, Sandpiper close, Chestnut avenue etc

There's some nearby houses really living up to their estate name, River View. There's a few leaning into the nearby river, with the view from the bedrooms getting closer to the river.
At one time the site of a mill, then a computer data centre. The data centre could only use part of the mill site due to the site being unstable. Houses have been built on land not suitable for even a parking area at one stage.
