Morning.
Decent day although breezy.
Given the proposed plan for todays club social ride I've binned it as it would mean a return leg of 30miles into a block 20mph headwind which is not fun. I've be flying solo on a loop which will hopefully avoid the worst of the wind.
I didn't realise today was expected to be windy until a couple of buddies said they're binning the club ride. Wimps, thought Paul.........until he looked at the forecast. I'm hoping for 30 - 40 miles of local gravel tomorrow.

If today’s Quick Cryptic is too easy, could you go back to yesterday’s cryptic to finish the other 30/40%...if yesterday was not an extraordinary day?!
Sadly few of my days are extraordinary 🤣 it's a good thought and one I do occasionally before looking up the answers to understand the clue.

I don't usually get far with a next day visit. There are three answers for me; those which come almost immediately, those I work through logically and the ones which are a big, big struggle - usually unfathomable.

Good morning from a bright, sunny and a touch breezy (!) Lancashire. Despite being up at 2.15 I was back in bed for 5.00 and grabbed another 2½ hours. Feeling prety good today.

The last ten days have been tough. I haven't slept and became extremely tired. That's lifted and I feel very energised. Chatted with my PT about this and explained to her we'd been at this point two years ago. I understand the problem, know the solution and have tackled it. She looked me in the eye "You understand how much progress this? Last time it took you four months to realise, this time a week." She's right. I'll crack on with the allotment and get that squared away. There might be time for housework. We will see.

Coffee. I love a good cup but at home drink instant. As my buddy put it, "someone has to." 🤣 He's a self-confessed coffee snob. I toyed with buying a coffee machine but baulked at £6/700. Now I have a great solution. My lad knows we ride regularly to Ancoats Coffee House. He gave me a six month coffee subscription for my birthday. I get 350g of ground coffee delivered monthly.

Now I was forced to do something. We have a large Moka but that made either too much or too weak. A week ago I bought a 3 cup Moka - 130ml - which is the amount of coffe I need in a cup. Over the last few days I've been working on proportions.

Bingo! Hit the jackpot this morning. 130ml coffee, 90ml hot milk heated for 70 seconds in the microwave. ½ spoon of sugar. Glorious! ☕️ only two minutes to make.

I'm not sure I'd class myself as a coffee snob but I do only drink what I think of as "proper" coffee whenever possible. I therefore do have a fairly pricey all singing and dancing machine at home(grinder, milk frother etc included) and for me it's worth it
I find the coffee I brew at home rivals and surpasses most I drink in cafes etc. That might be because my taste buds are accustomed to it but anyway, I think well worth it.

Barnet,
I'm not a great coffee drinker, but i fo much prefer proper coffee. I don't have a machine, but a cafetiere. My ground coffee of choice is Taylors rich roast from Harrogate.
As far as the large coffee shops go, I stay well clear of Starbucks, Cafe Nero I quite like, but where possible I try to use small independent coffee shops.☕️

Morning

I just checked yesterday's ride on Strava and decided to dig a bit further
The mystery was that a week or so ago a segment appeared that I had not seen before but covered a lot of the ride outwards

but I have ridden it a few times since- and many times before - and never seen this segment before

anyway - I found a way to check why you don;t appear on it and it said I had taken a different path near the start

so I zoomed the map in and it clearly showed my route and the route of the segment

and I had deviated

according to the GPS data from Strava my path included riding up the middle of the canal for a few hundred yards and cross over the canal at an angle with there being any kind of bridge there!!!

Must wash my bike - all that canal water on it will make it rust!!!!

Just instant for me. Normally Nescafe decaf for coffee and Yorkshire decaf tea bags if I fancy tea.

I always have a better brand of instant

I like proper coffee but when I try to make it at home I never get it right
and often end up with it very strong

which actually I like but it isn;t good for me and I end up feeling weird
(sorry - weirder than usual)

so I just make instant but a decent (ish) brand

Taylors coffee bags are excellent - especially as they often have offers on them
