Started young, and still going.

Barnet,
I've just noticed that the laundry basket is full. The washing machine will be doing its stuff shortly. Several times.

Morning.
A bit of early mist but that's due to clear to a glorious day.
House currently quiet after a fairly rowdy evening as my eldest is home and she's got 3 of her friends here for the weekend. Much alcohol consumed so I'll be clearing up in a bit. In fairness house is tidy, I was pleasantly surprised when I got up!

I’ve started bingeing a series that I seem to have missed called The Gone on iplayer. Really good so far, although the sound quality isn’t great. I’ve got the sound turned way up to nearly 30. Most things 10 to 12 is loud enough.
I've seen it before and I'm watching again now. Yes, very good. It's on iPlayer if you're struggling with sound quality. You mean the one about the Irish detective in NZ?

We find we need subtitles on a lot of things

I am especially bad if the lighting is dark so I can;t see their lips move

I reckon it is the quality of the speakers in the tellys nowadays
they go all in to make them thin and all that but the speakers can never bee all that good if they are at the back and very narrow!

I do wonder if it is worth getting a sound bar or linking it into a proper hifi system with proper speakers

but I have never gone as far as spending money on it!

I had this problem years ago. A sound bar is a highly recommended investment. I would go for one that is the same brand as your TV. It makes connection and use very simple.

It was iplayer I was watching on and I have a good soundbar but still found I had to turn it way up to normal. No matter, I finished the first series last night and will binge the second another night no doubt. There’s a new series of Ridley starts tonight though so I will probably watch that.

A pleasant 7 mile wander done. Took the car through to Comrie and parked there and walked along the little quiet back roads. No cars and only 1 lady on a bike and another with a gorgeous Collie pup that I had to speak to.

Good morning from a beautiful still and sunny Lancashire. Despite a 75 minute wake-up period I slept pretty well 6:51 which is a long one for me. Today's plan is to finish the allotment work, the back is broken on much of it. Then I have a lot of admin stuff to do. I've reached the conclusion I'm involved in too much, it's creating stress. I'm retired, this shouldn't happen and I've been here before. I'll complete my commitments and then step back from being the person who steps forward when something needs doing. I feel very energised today. This is more like Paul, so I'm pleased.

@Dave7 I keep meaning to mention this. The other day you seemed a little dispirited by your longest walk. I think it was at 2mph? That immediately made me think. You know I exercise quite a lot. When I walk, unaided, I average 2.8mph. I feel given all you've been through and you're using a walker that your 2mph is, excuse me, bloody good going. 👏 👏 I'll post an idea for you shortly.

That's it folks. A few chores to do and then I must get to the allotment. 👋

Yes - I agree that 2 mph is not bad
I have always walked pretty fast
and if I go for walk just for the exercise then I only really get to 3 mph or just over
OK I had to reduce my default speed due to asthma - but I still pass everyone else on the paths

so 2 mph isn't bad - especiallyas it is part of a recovery thing so you will improve as you keep going

Take it slow Dave - you are getting there!!

I read somewhere that the default setting on a lot of tellies and sound bars often do not suit people and fiddling with them can help

I have played around with ours (early in the mornings when SWMBO was not around) and some setting just make it worse
but some do make it better

probably changes as you get older

not that I am suggesting that anyone on her is old - especially Mo - but when you do start to get older then you might need to change it

(did I rescue that??)

It’s fine with most other programmes. I can hear it perfectly well at 10 or even less sometimes, but for that I had to turn it way up into the high 20s. Maybe the second series will be better.

I actually think I have good hearing, in fact it’s too good as noise irritates me.

There do seem to be a lot of things we watch in the evenings nowadays where I need subtitles

I don;t really like having them because they distract from the images on teh screen as you read them

but otherwise I am just picking up one word in every 5
and that is sometimes a guess!
