Thanks
I went to Halfords after I dropped the grandkids off and the bloke there came and had a good look

He said that it is perfectly safe and all he could do is basically flatten it out with a dab of resin
and paying £45 for that is a waste of money
so just keep an eye on it but unless it gets hit again in the same place then it will be fine

which is great we can ignore it

however, if anyone has opinions then I would be grateful to hear them

thanks

Over the years, I have had a number of chips in windscreen, and, broken windscreens (I used to be a relatively high mileage driver).

1. Windscreen chips are only an MOT issue if in line of drivers vision, or, if the chip, and any subsequent 'starring) is bigger than a 5p piece.

2. Insurance Company will pay to have a chip repaired (without loss of NCD), even if not an MOT issue, providing you use their recommended repairer (they do this because, a repair is orders of magnitude cheaper for them, than replacing windscreen which subsequently fails).

3. Repair is frequently carried out at your home (or, even, place of work), but, this is subject to weather conditions (mainly temperature I believe)
