Mrs Tenkaykev is preparing a chilli for tomorrow, and I was in the kitchen peeling spuds to make chips. She heated some oil up in a cast iron Le creuset style enamel pot, added onions and then some Berbere spice. Within a matter of seconds I was coughing uncontrollably and had to dash outside to breath in fresh air. She didn't notice any effect but it had a severe affect on me. I notice she had the gas on full pelt when she added the spices, just wondered if there was some sort of chemical reaction between the very hot oil and the spices. Any of the gang experienced anything similar, I'm still coughing and my chest is tight 🥲

Has Mrs T, by chance, been increasing the premiums on your life insurance, recently? ;)

Good morning. Didn't make it yesterday though tried at 4.55pm. Weather. Aaagghhhh. Yesterday set off to collect small person, -1⁰C, drove a mile, downhill onto sheet ice!! Motorway to Preston (west bound) is solid J6 to J1!! Carried on, t'other side of Blackburn freezing fog and -5⁰, two lanes traffic grind to a halt, idiots in outside lane still flying by at 70. Long story short it took two hours to do a 40 minute round trip.

Weather cleared to a beautiful day, small person in great form. 6.00pm went to get car to take her home. Snowing. Eventually got home to our house again at 7.40pm.

Collapsed in front of telly and watched Mrs Caldicot's Cabbage War. Excellent film @Paulus - C5 for those interested.

Outside it is now white........I'd like green tomorrow, please 🙏

Is it a comedy?

It isn't outrageously funny but makes one smile quietly at many of the situations. The film pokes fun at and ridicules several stereotypes, is full of pathos while injecting fun, love and warmth into the quite silly aspects of the story. There is a clear serious underlying point without being all shouty. A very "British" film.

I enjoyed it and have recommended to two friends who I think will appreciate it.

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
Cooooeeeee. We had snow overnight. Its 1 deg here now and I don't think the snow will last long before melting.

I will be pottering in my workroom today. Things to do, things to make then undo and start again. Things to more around then move back to where they originally were. Life is hard.

Stay safe peeps :hello:

A lovely sky this morning but bitterly cold. Off for a wander down to ASDA via the shoreline, Mrs Tenkaykev is off to the gym. Dug out my Laser digital thermometer yesterday. I can see the loft hatch is a few degrees colder than the rest of the ceiling so I will sort that out later. Kitchen is about 9 degrees at the moment, it's the coldest room in the house.
