I have risen in Hythe!
Hythe on the kent coast? I was brought up in Folkstone just up the coast and went to school in Saltwood just outside Hythe, haven't been down that way in over ten years.

Aye, on the coast. Lovely view of the grey sea as I await a fry up.
I was born on Thanet on the Manston Road (in a house, not on the actual road) about half a mile from the airport. My grandad had a heart attack and my parents flew down thinking he didn't have long to go (he went another 9 years) and I popped into the world early. So while I regard myself as a Scotsman an accident of birth means I am not, to my Mother's eternal shame.
Still got family on my Dad's side down in Kent and that's how I ended up joining this, er, club in Hythe all those years ago.
Sad to say Folkstone is a sheethole these days, although some of the outer suburbs are still leafy and quite pleasant. Have a good friend living there.
Morning all
Weather's looking good today.
Off to Minehead, for a bit of shopping, on the chuffa train at 10:54.
Might have a spot of lunch whilst we're there.
I have turned off alerts for that stupid emergency warning alarm that the government is going to be testing later on in the month. Thanks but no thanks.![]()
Yes. Go to your settings. Then notifications, then to emergency alarms. You can turn off emergency and extreme alerts

Photos of the locomotive please.😁
Thanks for the tip.@Dave7 one other possible step, depends on your phone, mine is a Samsung, you might need to do:
Settings >Notifications >Advanced Settings >Wireless Emergency Alerts.
I've left mine on. I can't see it does any harm and I'm interested to see the outcome. It was interesting in Iceland to learn about a similar system for volcanic eruptions. Farmers for example get a warning to open gates so livestock have an opportunity to escape threat.
Not a UK problem! 🤣
