I'm sure you've check carefully but I don't think being contracted out has an impact on the standard state pension. It does influence Additional State Pension (SERPS).

Aye lad, I was contracted out and as of 1st April this year I now have the contribution history required to qualify for full state pension when it rolls around, probably when I'm eleventy-eight. Fortunately I fine without it as I am.

Morning all :hello:

Off out for a walk on the beach this morning, then Sunday lunch at the Railway Inn.
MrsD's brother and brother in law are coming down to us for a 3 day stay from tomorrow. Right pair of boring old farts. Think we'll just put them on the steam train on Tuesday and leave them to it.
Will have to endure an evening, or two, of thrilling conversation about pressure die casting and fault finding on Suzuki SX4s.
Can't wait........
If you do take them down to the steam trains, point out that the sand casting, used to make the driving wheels, was and is still the better method. Also the more skilled method of making something in other than soft metals.
Although it has been overtaken in some fields by the lost wax method and latex mould casting.

I see in the news that the UK came second from last in that singing corrupt thing.

I have no idea why we keep putting in millions of pounds every year when we have no chance of winning. The winner is picked out long before the singing thing takes place. It's a total waste of money. It's about time we told them to go forth and multiply.

I should have read the whole headline. Saw "comes second" surprised and thought not too bad, moved on.
Hence my relief to discover that we have actually maintained our typical level of achievement.

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
Stupid DPD driver decided he could drive down the rather steep gravelled drive even though we have a sign that clearly says it isn't suitable for vans. And of course he got stuck. Managed to get out In the end, but of course, then the drive needed to be fixed. Intelligence clearly isn't their forte.

Shouty ranty time over now.

Oh dear.
Claim from their insurance.
Might end in needing a CCJ against them. Not as hard as you think.

Obviously you're aware that you have to apply for it, but don't fret about the wait when you do as I applied online in March for a June start of payments and didn't hear a dicky bird until this week.
But as I said, it was worth it - ! :okay:

I’m going to have to do it by snail mail when it’s my turn as I’m damned if I can get registered for government gateway as I don’t possess a passport or photo driving licence or credit card. It says you can phone them but I can’t be bothered.

And - ! With my 'part time' job; 36 hours over three days as oppose to 35 hours over five days in my previous 'full time' job , at the end of this month as I've just turned 70, I'm going to reward myself by gong down to ONE day a week 'til the end of the year then nowt days - ! :okay:
If my employer doesn't like it, at least I can now afford to say 'Then jog on pal - !'

This always fascinates me about 'today's society'. Folk assume that everyone drives and travels abroad, so they thus possess the necessary I.D. documentation.
Nope. Good for you :okay:, but you may find the 'phone route a wee bit tedious.
