I have also rissed ^_^ .
Was, sadly, awake at 0600 so gave in and got up.
I got 2 lovely non fiction books yesterday so will spend some time browsing them.
One (from my Bro) is about old Wallasey** (where I was dragged up) and t'other is from a grandson and shows photos/descriptions of the worlds best golf courses.

At the end of next month, I'll qualify to join this thread, and it's something I am really looking forward to.

One thing I'd like to do is use my time to help others, and I'm currently looking at a few options for voluntary work.

My main wish is for that to be abroad so that I have an opportunity to experience and learn from other cultures, and I like the sound of Nepal, but I'm flexible on that.

I have a variety of skills and knowledge I'm more than willing to offer, and I'd relish an opportunity to gain new ones. I have some reasonable connections with Universities from projects I have done with them in the UK, so I'm going to sound out those research options as well.

Anyone any experience, pointers or pitfalls to share?

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.

Good luck to you when you retire. I hope you are successful. And welcome to the loony bin.

The sun is shining here. Its nice to see it after days of darkness wind and rain. :sun:

I thought it had to snow in London to count for the bookies. Is my memory wrong or have they moved the goal posts ? Scottish Highlands shouldn't count as it can snow there in August.

Yup - this is the main reason the press in England will never support Scottish Independence

They rely on Scotland being "the same as England" so they can get alarmist headlines every Autumn, Winter and Spring about how the country can expect snow and will come to a grinding halt every time the forecast predicts a 50% chance of a snow fall on the top of Ben Nevis
