It's ridiculous. What on earth is happening in the UK. Good god.

My son, his fiancee and their daughter where registered at a Dr.s literally 100 yards from their flat. In November they gave us a grandson and when they went to register him at their Dr.s they where told they where no longer in the catchment area as they lived on the wrong side of the road and they then de registered them all. They now have to travel miles to their 'appointed' surgery.

She "did" my neighbours (husband and wife) then us.....total 60 quid for 10 minutes work. Then charges me 15 to put Covid in writing

When we swapped GP surgery we had to provide some form of ID
The receptionist said that they have rules to follow but have some leeway if people clearly have no official photo id
We asked because after the pandemic my wife had very little ID of any kind - and nothing with her picture on it

But once we had registered with the surgery we have never been asked for ID again

including going to A&E and Urgent Care - they just assume that you are who you say you are!

Not been asked for photo id, but the last 2 or 3 times Mrs @BoldonLad has had to attend hospital, it has been necessary to fill in a form, giving details including nationality etc

A sign has now appeared in our Dr's surgery.

1. Initial appointments and consultations will be carried out over the phone.

2. A photo ID may be asked for when an appointment is requested. WTF. A photo ID?. Does anyone else have anything like that at your Dr's surgery?

Can't see why a photo id may be required. All it requires here in Oz is to present your Govt issued Medicare card which does not have a photo, just your name and a number. Telehealth calls here are great for getting prescription renewals.

Are they trying to suggest that there might be more than one of you?

Personally, I have no objection to a check that a person is entitled to "free" healthcare on the NHS.

However, it does wind me up that they ask for the same details repeatedly. Eg, recently, Mrs @BoldonLad received an Email from our Doctors surgery, to say, she needed to make an appointment, at local outpatients, to have bloods taken. I order to do this, it was necessary to enter her NHS Number, Name, Date of birth. Obviusly, the GP surgery already has these details, and, THEY. sent the Email to her, why the duplication?

This is only one example of being asked for the same information, over and over again, in the past 12 months. Amazon (among others) appear to be able to function without such wasted effort, why can't the NHS?

Weird - I have had bloods done several times recently
Just made an appointment and turned up with the blood form the GP surgery gave me
no paperwork at all!
