I've an aunt who sounds very similar.
They can try once to pressure her and that'll be it. She's not afraid to let them know what she thinks if she feels they're taking her for a ride, or having a laugh at her expense.

When I got a firm in to quote for new windows, once the guy measured up and started working out figures, I told him from the off I wanted his best price and no shenanigans phoning up the boss, etc. I was happy with the quote, and give him his due, he wasn’t too pushy anyway.

We have minus 6 and not to get above minus 2 all day :cold: The shower of snow we got yesterday is still lying.

Yes, first Toyota I have owned, but, reliability reputation was a major factor.

I’ve had 3 Yarises and currently have a little Aygo. No problems with any of them.

I had a quote for a kitchen re-fit. It's only a small room.....it has always been the utility room but now I am moving into the flat it will be my kitchen.
Out of 3 quoted this is the most expensive but the others were both based on using IKEA stuff whereas this one is a totally made to fit.

Morning all.
Compared to some it's quite mild here, only -2⁰C , but quite a heavy frost.
Today MrsP and myself are taking park in a health and lifestyle trial run by the NHS. We have already filled in an online questionnaire, and today we are having a health screen. Blood pressure, height, weight, and blood tests.
Tha aim of this is a study into dementia, diabetes and other factors that affect these diseases including any genetic disposition towards these problems.

A practically tropical zero degrees here in Poole. The electric stove that arrived yesterday fitted perfectly into the fireplace and matches well. It was only a cheapie from Screwfix but we didn't want to spend a fortune and find it didn't really go. The artificial log flame effect is pretty basic but does work on a psychological basis, yesterday evening Mrs Tkk asked me to turn the fire off as she was feeling warm enough and I pointed out that it was already off and just showing the flame effect 🔥😁
Watched Winter Watch from Arne last night, it's amazing how much activity is going on even in the depths of winter. Arne used to be part of one of our long Sunday training runs from Wareham along to Corfe Castle and back, with Arne as an extra loop if needing more training distance.

Morning. Talking of car sales, we had decided on a little run about a few years ago. The price was good, not even worth haggling over, but we sat through the speil with every intention of buying. All the paperwork was completed and all the add ones ( tyre, key insurance paint protection etc etc) gone over and declined. So it comes to paying and he presents us with the bill. Now this was a month old pre reg car from a main dealer and suddenly on top of the agreed (and advertised price) was a £50 admin charge. Though it was probably cutting off my own nose when he refused to remove the charge I just stood up and walked out without another word, don't think he was best pleased 😏

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
A sign has now appeared in our Dr's surgery.

1. Initial appointments and consultations will be carried out over the phone.

2. A photo ID may be asked for when an appointment is requested. WTF. A photo ID?. Does anyone else have anything like that at your Dr's surgery?

If it wasn't for my bus pass (which I haven't even used yet) I wouldn't even have any as I don't have a passport and still have the old paper driving licence.

It's getting frightening the way the health service is going. I honestly don't know what our doctors actually do. Thankfully I haven't needed to go for several years so no idea what hoops you have to jump through to see anyone now.

When we swapped GP surgery we had to provide some form of ID
The receptionist said that they have rules to follow but have some leeway if people clearly have no official photo id
We asked because after the pandemic my wife had very little ID of any kind - and nothing with her picture on it

But once we had registered with the surgery we have never been asked for ID again

including going to A&E and Urgent Care - they just assume that you are who you say you are!
