I inherited a collection of commemorative mugs from my Mum - she was given them by my Dad's aunt who had been collecting them since Moses were a lad

If I hadn't given them to a charity shop I would defo get that one and put them on display - just to see if anyone spots it!!!

You going electric, hybrid or petrol? We have just bought a Toyota Yaris hybrid, very pleased with it, my brother has just bought the bigger RAV4 hybrid, he is equally pleased.

Look like petrol

we did say the next car would be electric - but too expensive and/or potential for new tech coming up soon and devaluing it

and we only do a few thousand a year so the ecological extras of making an EV would take ages to take over from the fossil fuels we are burning

Could have gone for a hybrid but didn;t see any that floated my boat!

Oh - and the one we are looking at has way better fuel economy that the current one!

Not posted for a while as I keep getting my post censored with no explanation, yet is seems that if your in the “click” (News, Current Affairs & Politics) that you can shout down everybody and nothing is said, I find that very strange, or am I just being singled out by one "Mod" or do we have a “snitch” that hates me ?

" That would be an Ecumenical matter " 😁

Wondered why you stopped posting.

Ok - so we have been to see the car together and I think it is "The One"

problem is that the salesman is young and annoying ina way that only young salesmen can be - note that I am using a gender specifc version here - that is deliberate

tried several pressure tactics - none worked
even got his manager (or whatever) over to talk to us

but - NO - we are not discussing final figures before we have a test drive
and if that is your policy then unfortunately I know that a policy is a piece of paper that you have written something on - nothing else

so I will go back tomorrow - probably, may be the next day - and take it out
IF I think it is still as good as I think it is THEN we will talk about final figures

and job titles are not relevant

Honestly!!!

We have a 2011 Toyota Camry. The most reliable car we have ever owned.

I hate pushy sales people. We has Safestyle quote us for double glazing a few years ago and although I told her from the off that we were only getting quotes, she pushed us, phoned her boss and got a better deal and was very snotty when we wouldn't sign. In the end I had to ask her to leave the house.

Do they think people are just going to spend a fortune without checking other options or in your case trying something out before parting with your money.

That seems to be the tactic by car salespersons for quite a few years now.
I was out with my daughter who had made an appointment to see a particular car. A Mini One. I went out on the test drive, it was a good car.
Time to talk money.
After the usual haggling he went off to 'talk to his manager'. After nearly 15 minutes I went to the office and they were chatting about other things. I said a few choice things and we left.

We are watching out for that but I don;t think they will try it

They have already run into the bumpers pretty hard with my wife

but they think I am an easier mark

as my wife said - I look so nice and easy to push around - until you try to push it
I wasn;t a teacher in a rough secondary school for nothing!

still -it is funny watching them try different entirely predictable tactics

I've an aunt who sounds very similar.
They can try once to pressure her and that'll be it. She's not afraid to let them know what she thinks if she feels they're taking her for a ride, or having a laugh at her expense.
