Morning all :hello:

Out for a walk on the beach this morning, then a stroll down to the village for lunch at SQs.

Woo hoo. Good morning from a balmy Chorley 5⁰ here. Shorts on later. What can I say. Mooching about with domestics including the porch floor. It's a long story but due to age of our cottage impossible to resolve. One damp small section of the base layer flooring ply has rotted and cracked. Our cottage is built directly on the clay, footings are about 12-15", the gap between bare soil and floor is 12" and round the front door there is the tiniest spot where rainwater gets under the floor, over the years the ply gets damp in this area. the rest is bone dry. I've removed the damaged piece and a brief inspection yesterday didn't reveal anything major. I'm taking a detailed look later.

Another film recommendation, "Help" with Jodie Comer (superb, outstanding performance), Stephen Graham, Ian Hart, Sue Johnston and other known British actors. A Channel 4 film this is hard hitting, uncomfortable, distressing and paints a very clear and strong picture of what went on in care homes for the elderly in March 2020. It is a very, very good film and a devastating indictment of how this aspect of Covid was handled. Very worthwhile watching but don't expect a comfortable 105 minutes. Like Mrs Caldicott there are strong points made though handled in a contrasting way.

PS. I should say there is kindness, love and understanding throughout Help but that doesn't make it warm and cosy viewing.

On a similar sad theme, the film with Anthony Hopkins and Olivia Coleman where you are seeing the effects of dementia from his point of view is very well done too. Forgotten the title at the moment.

A dismal and drizzly walk done. Going to have a nice soak in the bath now then I suspect a chill out day reading and telly this evening.

Google suggests this is The Father. I haven't heard of it but I've added it to my list. Thanks 👍

A few days ago, Mrs Poacher found a tub of ricotta lurking in the nether regions of the fridge, well past its use by date.
I opened it and pronounced it good, whereupon she suggested making spinach and ricotta cannelloni.
Accordingly, she bought some frozen spinach in readiness - I was quite looking forward to it!

Today it turns out that I've been volunteered to make it, as well as all the other tasks I had lined up, and if I failed to produce a meal fit for a queen there would be grim reaper cushions*.

Well, that's the rest of my afternoon taken care of.

* a real thing - check them out on Etsy!

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
Mr WD pulled a container out of the freezer that looked like meat and that's what it is. Snake and pygmy in gravy, so that with wonky peas and green beans it is.

Allegedly it's 5 deg now. The snow is all but gone here accept for the drive. Still a lot of ice on it. Its In a dip and doesn't get the sun much.
