You would have to balance the cost of repairs, against the cost of a new car. Even a decent used car is going to cost many times more than the cost of the repairs. £2000 against 8 to 10k for a half decent used one.
If the bodywork, engine and sub frame are ok, I would go for the repairs personally.

My thoughts exactly. And of course buying a second hand car, you are 90% of the time buying someone else's problems.

Had bacon and cheese filled Staffordshire Oat Cakes for lunch. :hungry: :hungry: :hungry:

Staffordshire Oat Cakes are the same size and thickness as pancake Filling is what ever your tastes are My favourite is bacon and cheese Sometimes I add a fried egg..Derbyshire Oat Cakes are a little thicker than there Staffordshire cousins There must be other shops selling Derbyshire Oat Cakes. The Oat cakes I bought was from a shop in Bakewell

They were also on sale at a Bakewell farmer’s market, cooked with various fillings. Our to take away for you to fill.

Always have a stock in the freezer .

I would agree, however the cost of sec9nd hand cats at the moment is stupid so I've decided to spend the money. Even if I only get another couple of years from it, it still hasn't cost me a lot of money over the years and hopefully the cost if 2nd hand cars will come down by them. I hope so anyway 😆

Unfortunately that’s not going to happen . Memory chips will stay in short supply for at least a couple of years which will keep the supply of new cars low. By the time it picks up we will be within 5 years of 2030 when pure ICL cars stop. (Plug in Hybrids in 2035 ) . And as car makers work on a 5 to 7 year cycle no new pure ICL will be launched after 2025 .
So prices of second hand ICL cars will continue to rise as more and more people will be chasing less cars as electric is expensive new and useless second hand plus one third of people do not have off street parking so cannot charge at home .
Sorry for the rant 😀 but I spent my whole life working in the industry and it really worries me what’s going to happen in the next decade.
Sorry for being serious 😀
If anyone wants my advice ( if you don’t want to go electric) is buy the newest ICL car you can before 2025. ( Or 2030 if your buying a plug in hybrid) .
It’s what I will be doing .

Morning all :hello:

Expecting DPD to turn up at lunchtime to pick up a faulty PC monitor that's got to go back to Curry's.
Will have a walk down to the village, after they've been, to see our solicitor.

That's what I'm intending to do. I'll hang on to my CRV for another couple of years if possible, then see what hybrids are around that will do a decent towing job.

I did think of that as well. I was hoping it wouldn't be the case. I was hoping that I can keep my car for another 3 years, bu then I will be 70 and might have enough saved for an even better car that will in all probability be my last one due to the new electric only cars. Can't see it happening though for various reasons but we shall see. We'll have to play it by ear I daresay. 😆
