Started young, and still going.

Barnet,
We are having a raclette tonight, 8 of us. Steak, mushroom, asparagus wrapped in ham, chips, pepper sauce, roqueford cheese, salad , French baguette etc.....
We will be using two raclettes sets , one on each end of the table. Looking forward to it and makes a change from watching tv.

Sounds great. I will look a Raclette up.
Takeaway Ruby for us tonight. I can't be bothered to cook.

Scanning through the auction catalogue online, I spotted a rather fine looking painting by Dexter Brown.

I'd never heard of him, but apparently he's well known for his impressionistic paintings of racing cars - @Reynard will probably have encountered his work. This (if genuine!) is definitely an outlier in his oeuvre. We'll go and have a look at it in the flesh shortly, and maybe put in a bid in the low hundreds , expecting it to go for more!

On a more mundane level, they also have a battered old Seiko watch, which I might try for, intending to transfer the strap to one of mine.

Oh well. Left a bid of £200, winning bid was £230, so at least two people rated it even higher than I did.
Ditto the watch. It had an 18mm strap, while I need a 22mm, but it was in good running order and looked much better in the flesh than in the photo, so I left a bid of £25 ('cos I don't really need another watch - it's not n+1 like bikes!). Went for £35.
My credit card remains unsullied.

I suspect all of us lucky enough to avoid picking anything up the last few years are being hit hard with getting the lurgy again. It’s been well over 3 years since I last had as much as a sniffle.

It’s about the same period since what I would call a real cold Excuse this bit the discharge from my nasal passages was was not like the thick gunge you get usually with a head cold.

Most odd Hope you stay well.

I’m back
A fortnight ago a woke up .Every joint was aching . Had a dry cough.and nose was running like a tap..Did a Covid test which was negative. Remained like this for the next seven days .No energy.
Gradually I began to feel better but felt fatigued.Just walking down the path to the recycling bin left me feeling knackered I went through two boxes of tissues due to a almost continuous runny nose.Where does all that snot come from ? It didn’t feel like the symptoms of a heavy cold.

The original aches and pains felt like flu and just no energy to do anything.

To day is the first day I have felt the energy and motivation to do any thing.

I was talking to my daughter this morning ,half there office is down with the same symptoms

Looks like I have some catching up to do.

Hope everyone is 👍

Glad you're feeling better, I wondered where you were.

Here's part of the answer,

The other thing is, your mucus membranes produce 2 - 4 pints of the stuff every day. Most of which you swallow without realising. This amount can easily double if there's an infection or foreign bodies in your system(sawdust, dust), with the body now directing it out of the body, to prevent further infection.
End result is that you notice it, unlike a normal day.

Morning all :hello:

Been a good week. Contracts exchanged, 4 wins on the PBs, mates coming over for Sunday lunch and.......I've had a Lotto win!
Oh...and it's my wedding anniversary today - 43 years. I forgot all about it.
Fortunately, MrsD forgot as well.
It's a sign, I tell ya.......a sign!
