Tits! Blue Tits! In the nest box 😎
For many years we've been putting up nest boxes, but all to no avail. All the neighbours gardens seemed to be miniature wildlife reserves but ours was bereft of birds, apart from pigeons and magpies. A couple of weeks ago I started the back breaking task of getting rid of the shingle that covered one part of the garden as part of our " rewilding " project. We're going to cover the cleared area with soil / compost and sew wild flowers. We're looking for ground cover that's low maintenance as we don't want to have to get a mower and be constantly cutting grass. A sort of " chamomile lawn " appeals. A friend is giving us some poppies as a start. Perhaps the Tits appreciate our efforts.

Morning all

Windy! Had a guy out yesterday to shore up part of a fence which is looking like it will give way with the next high winds. He's coming back next week to replace the concrete fence post.
We're off to the theatre in Minehead tonight and stopping over with our mates.
The WSR starts their summer timetable tomorrow with trains running every day. That'll be handy.

Try creeping Thyme for ground cover.

Good morning from a grey and wet Barnet.
The cats didn't look impressed and didn't want to go out.
A few domestics to do this morning.
I've got a pot of leftover veg, so bubble and squeak, ham and a couple of fried eggs for breakfast.
Then a long soggy dog walk.

This afternoon there is the weekly escape committee meeting at the Ding Dong, I think it's a full house today for the first time in about a year. All 6 will be present.

Hello. Damp, breezy and chilly. I really should stay at home in the warm but, no, I'm going for a ride. I must be bonkers. Winter kit and winter bike. Why can't it be spring? Eh? Come on, weather gods I want spring. Made progress on the treasurer's report but this has highlighted ways I need to improve the accounts layout. That's a bugger!

Morning all.
9° here and constant rain.....horrible.
I have to visit the auntie (again) today. She has had 2 falls this week and has agreed to try respite care for 2 weeks.
Problem is she has agreed this several times, leaving me to do all the work, then changing her mind last moment. Leaves me feeling 'wound up' and embarrassed at having explain to the care home.

Interesting. I think we may have blue-tits using our nest box this year. This follows about 5 years of friendly rivalry with my son-in-law. We have a quiet garden, in suburbs, no tenants in nest box. He lives on a fairly busy road in town, his nest box is adjacent to the pavement. Every year, he has tenants!

Interesting. I think we may have blue-tits using our nest box this year. This follows about 5 years of friendly rivalry with my son-in-law. We have a quiet garden, in suburbs, no tenants in nest box. He lives on a fairly busy road in town, his nest box is adjacent to the pavement. Every year, he has tenants!

I've finally finished mounting a Blink doorbell camera in a nest box and attached it to a fence. It's a bit of a bodge with black gaffer tape. I'll leave it for a while and see if there's any interest. The handy thing is that it's pointing at the bottom of the nest box and will be triggered if anything enters the box and notify me.

anyway - better be soon as SWMBO's son is arriving soon with the 2 year old
then we need to go to their house for school kicking out time - apparently they get out early because it is the last day of term

bloomin' schools - finish too early and holidays are too long
(of course - when I was a teacher my opinion MAY have been different!)

Yes, I have a Nestbox Camera, bought for me last Fathers Day, by Daughter No1 (the wife of the SiL in previous post). I had not got around to installing it, now, I don't want to risk disturbing the nestbox, in case I scare off the prospective tenants.
