Getting old but not past it

Another sunny day here for the third day in a row. ^_^ If it carries like on like that, I will have to start wearing my shorts again.
Our council has imported 1 million ton of sand at a cost of 20M pounds to produce a beautiful beach here which is probably the best in North Wales now. It has raised the sea bed by 16 feet so the tide doesn't come so far in land so the beach is never submerged. I can see the tourists flogging in to enjoy a day on the beach on the Costa del North Wales.

From my Facebook memories this morning.

An air traffic control tower suddenly lost communication with a small twin engine aircraft. A moment later the tower land line rang and was answered by one of the employees.
The passenger riding with the pilot who lost communications was on a cellular phone and yelled "Mayday, mayday!! The pilot had an instant and fatal heart attack. I grabbed his cell phone out of his pocket and he had told me before we took off he had the tower on his speed dial memory. I am flying upside down at 18,000 feet and traveling at 180 mph. Mayday, mayday!!"
The employee in the tower had put him on speaker phone immediately. "Calm down, we acknowledge you and we’ll guide you down after a few questions. The first thing is not to panic, remain calm!!"
He began his series of questions:
Tower: "How do you know you are traveling at 18,000 feet?"
Aircraft: "I can see that it reads 18,000 feet on the Altimeter dial in front of me."
Tower: "Okay, that’s good, remain calm. How do you know you’re traveling at 180 mph?"
Aircraft: "I can see that it reads 180 mph on the Airspeed dial in front of me."
Tower: Okay, this is great so far, but it’s heavily overcast, so how do you know you're flying upside down?"
Aircraft: “The pee in my pants is running out of my shirt collar."

Morning all :hello:

Another nice day in the offing.
Might nip up to Staple Plain for a walk, then drop in to a garden centre before having a swift half in the White Horse.
I advertised my old petrol mower on FB yesterday and sold it within 5 minutes. FB takes some beating, if you've got stuff to sell.

Interesting to read. I've got a Cannondale to sell and though I've used eBay for other things I was dreading selling a high value item. I'll give FB a go first.

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
There is a chaffinch that keeps throwing itself against the windows. I think he thinks it's a rival male. He must be exhausted 😆

My undercarriage is still tender from yesterday's bimble and, if truth be told, I'm enjoying my walking and running way more than cycling now so can't see me doing much again this year.

Re your tender undercarriage. Now I may not have mentioned this but I am a qualified** masseur and would be pleased to offer you 'mates rates'.
**my qualifications may not be recognised everywhere.

There's a new Cinema / café / bar opened in a shop in small shopping arcade near where our daughter lives.
A few posters for old films in the windows but the films shown are a decent mix. Quite reasonable too with it costing £7.50 to watch a film, or £18 to include fish and chips from the local excellent Chez Fred chippie.

Just returned from visiting SWMBO's sister

Niece turned up with her boyfriend - they had been out shopping - presumably in Liverpool

She had bought him his birthday present

a T-Shirt - the sort that has a collar and about 3 buttons at the neck
it was from the sort of shop that gives you posh bags

it was priced at £200
reduced to £140

WTAF!!!!

140 quid for a bloomin' T-shirt
I bought one this morning and thought £18 was just about OK

this one was almost 10 times the cost of mine and, apart from the label, looked about the same
and mine felt better made to me

maybe I am turning into a grumpy old whatsit!!!

No, you are not grumpy!

My limit for a good quality technical T is £30-40 preferably in a sale.

Similar for casual wear T's although the overlap between the two types is significant for me.

Back in '99 we had friends visit and he paid £70 for a plain white Ted Smith T in a fancy boutique. Compared to my sub £10 at the time Berghaus there was no discernable difference except that mine was high-wicking and his wasn't.

One of the young GC's spent nigh on £200 on dome trainers recently - bonkers!
