Early Retirement Planning
Morning all :hello:

Rain forecast today, so it's indoor jobs for us. MrsD's sorting out her study and I'm sorting out my workshop.
Everything in the garden seems to be going well, apart from my chillis - having no luck at all this year.
Our new sofas are being delivered on Wednesday and a new tallboy for the bedroom today. Just waiting on our new coffee table and a bedside cabinet.
Had a phone call from an old work colleague, yesterday, to let me know that they were finally retiring. Hadn't heard from him for at least 18 years. Nice to catch up.

Is Mrs Dirk excited by a tall boy in the bedroom?

Morning. It is really cold out there this morning. Felt more like February than April. At least it's dry.

Did the hilly walk and cut through the front of the Hydro hotel. There must have been a classic car rally there at the weekend. A couple of stragglers just getting ready to leave.

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.

I do love the classic and vintage cars. They look so much nicer than modern ones. And they last longer as well.

Just back from my run. A sunny morning and as it's now clouding over I timed it right.
Collecting granddaughter from school later, will get the earlier bus and go for coffee and cake first 🍰☕️

We don't know yet.
Given the high quality of engineering on modern cars, I'd expect plenty to survive well into the next 100 years.
How many modern cars go rusty within a couple of years, these days?
My uncle had a new Vauxhall in 1966 - rusting within 18 months.
Engines generally are good for well over 100k miles.
My 18 year old Honda has 136k on the clock and runs like a new one.
Decokes are a thing of the past and modern oils are vastly superior to stuff from the 50s and 60s.
