Morning all.
Sat up talking to my son** and scoffing pizza etc. I even managed to sleep in till 05.50 (I call that a result).
**bloody hell, that boy can eat. At 2030 he decided to order a BIG pizza with sides plus apple pie.....where does he shove it ?
Grandson and g.daughter calling at 1300 so will be a busy day.

My twin grandsons are like that. I'm glad I don't have the food bill for keeping them supplied

Good morning. Bright, sunny and forecast to be hot at 26⁰. What excitements are planned for today? Myself and a buddy are heading down to the club meet point for 8.45 to see what's going on. I don't feel its a good plan. Two rides are meeting, the club ride which is hilly and includes The Rake** and the Intro which is a steady pace. Not sure what to do, I don't want to ride the Rake at present and t'other ride is slow but it's very bad form to start with the group and then ride off later.

Working the club bar 6.00 - 8.00pm to help with a 50th birthday bash.

In between I have to nip to the dump to drop of broken small electrical items......including our smouldering old microwave.

** Google it. This is a climb on which in years gone by the winner of the annual race was the rider who got furthest up it!!! That a 68 year old OAP can ride it shows how far modern bikes have come.

Our son is living in Warrington and often walks or cycles through Sankey Valley, sounds a pretty place, shame about the rest of the canal, I think theres a few about like that.
We ride through Sankey Valley on gravel routes and always enjoy it, lovely place. I think we ride along a filled in section of the St Helens canal but never seen anything like @ebikeerwidnes describes. Can you be a bit more specific about where it is?

I have risen!

Big gig tonight, 400 guests. We're playing 3 sets starting 9am and ending about 2am, then I've got to be back there about 10am tomorrow to help pack the gear away. That's going to be knackering so I'll walk Bruce in a minute and spend most of today just loafing about.

Morning all :hello:

Off to Minehead this morning to see the arrival of the Waverley steam paddle ship.
We've been on it three times in the past, but will give it a miss this time as it'll cost about £100 for the two of us just to go up the coast to Ilfracombe. You don't even get the return leg onboard; they bring you back by coach. Bit of a rip off, I reckon.

Yes - basically it is at the Widnes end of the canal - place called Spike Island just by the Widnes end of the old Widnes Runcorn bridge

You can ride right the way through to it from Sankey Bridges - it starts near the tip (sorry - recycling centre!) past the old power station
Spike Island is quite a nice place - views of all 3 bridges and the Mersey Estuary and you can also ride on through along the banks of the Mersey (past some factories!) and through to Pickerings Pasture - which is a nice grassy place on the banks with view across the river
You can then ride through to Hale Village and through to the airport and onto Speke Hall
