BBC for light winds 14 MPH.Is that wind speed classified as light .My classification is b%#£# hard work when it’s a head wind or is just I’m doddering old git Don’t answer that

I wouldn't call that light. I think light is up to 5mph. Even the draught from a big lorry going the opposite way slows me down these days!

Thanks
Yes - basically it is at the Widnes end of the canal - place called Spike Island just by the Widnes end of the old Widnes Runcorn bridge

You can ride right the way through to it from Sankey Bridges - it starts near the tip (sorry - recycling centre!) past the old power station
Spike Island is quite a nice place - views of all 3 bridges and the Mersey Estuary and you can also ride on through along the banks of the Mersey (past some factories!) and through to Pickerings Pasture - which is a nice grassy place on the banks with view across the river
You can then ride through to Hale Village and through to the airport and onto Speke Hall
You ever been there looking for the ghosts?

Steady on there @Mo1959 , think of us poor lads, and our Blood Pressure ;)

Thank goodness someone got it and commented on that before I did

again

anyway - looke like a lovely day again - great day for a ride around the canals

excpet that I am banned from riding due the broken (only cracked really so it would be OK - honest dear????????)
and also we are going away on Monday for a few days and I need to go shopping for some shorts as my "little incident" on my bike has rather destroyed my favourite shorts

on which point - they had a 9 inch rip down the bum area on the left
and another one about 3 inchea long at the rear groin level on the right

and MY WIFE didn;t notice when I was walking around the house for several hours like that - and let me go to the Walk-in Centre like that

clearly the marriage is not in the "first heady days" anymore!!!!!!!!

We ride through Sankey Valley on gravel routes and always enjoy it, lovely place. I think we ride along a filled in section of the St Helens canal but never seen anything like @ebikeerwidnes describes. Can you be a bit more specific about where it is?

Our Lad has a bike for getting to and from work and thats all he does, whats parts of Sankey Valley he rides I don't know but he lives not far from there.

I've been for a bimble, my Meriden loop, the slowest one I do these days, includes the long drag up Harvest Hill Lane and the climb up Cornets End lane, 25 miles ridden and the first one since I started riding again that I truly enjoyed, no mechanicals or trips into the scenery, lovely morning, bright, sunny and breezy, cool at first but getting warm as the ride progressed, by the end of the ride I was over dressed, I was working like a slave into the breeze and flying before it, great fun and should help my fitness. I enjoyed that.
