:hello: Good morning from a dull and damp Coventry.

Morning. Just a slow saunter round the riverside trail as it’s really humid. I hate this weather. We are barely into summer and I’m looking forward to autumn!

Dentist in Perth at 10am, just for a checkup, then I’m supposed to be going through to Comrie for a walk with my old neighbour. Forecast is now saying thundery showers though so I’ll check and see if she still wants to go.

Another restless night due to the twinges from the arm. I've got my first visit to the fracture clinic this morning, hopefully the bone is starting to knit in the correct positionšŸ¤ž
Good luck in the fracture clinic, hope it's better than my experiences. Sit there for about an hour, go for an x-ray, sit for another half an hour, get called in to see the consultant and be told everything looks fine and out again within 5 minutes. Same again a few weeks later, did it 5 times in total.

I have met Squirrel Nutkin. Quite wonderful. Headed out for a brisk walk and on my return stopped outside the lodge to do my morning stretches. I spotted a red squirrel on the road perhaps 10' away. I stood still, he/she walked down our path, stopped and sniffed my boot before wandering by. Literally 2" away. Clearly they're very tame but still a privilege to see this beautiful little creature so near. Two more dropped by in the space of ten minutes, they were shy and skirted round by 3'.

As long as the bone is healing correctly all will be well. I've found an outstandingly good Youtube video from the Royal Melbourne Hospital for my exact fracture ( Impact fracture of the proximal Humerus ). It starts with a Surgeon explaining the fracture and how it is treated, this is followed by a very detailed demonstration and explanation of rehabilitaion excercises on a progressive weekly basis. I've just started week three.
I have the patience of Job, and a book to read. I know the Staff will be doing their best.

I was the same after my collar bone was plated. It felt like it was taking forever to feel better then gradually over the weeks I realised it was less painful and moving better. Think it’s been 6 or 7 years now and I never give it a thought unless anything presses on the plate when it can be uncomfortable.

11:30 appointment so I arrived five minutes early and did a self check in on on of the touch screens. Walked towards the seating area and before I'd had a chance to sit down a nurse called my name and handed me a card before pointing me at the Xray department. Five minute wait for a couple of Xrays then back to fracture clinic. Ten minute wait to see a constant who showed me the X rays, explained why I needed to start some specific exercises and then asked me where I'd prefer to receive my physio treatments. ( I chose Wimborne as I prefer the pubs there ) Booked to see the specialist again in four weeks. In and out in about 40 minutesšŸ˜Ž I'm planning on buying a lottery ticket today 😁

Well done. I'm not knocking the NHS, the care I received was first rate. One issue I do have is a lack of communication between themselves. At my 5 week check, I was told not to do any lifting or even move it much. When I finally got my first physio appointment about 4 weeks after that, he asked me if I'd been doing any exercises and I told him the consultant said not to and the physio said I should have been doing something after my last check up!!! I still to this day think that 4 week period was one of the main reasons I now suffer from a restriction of movement and strength (both about 15% down). Good luck with your rehab.

That's certainly an issue, after the initial trauma started to calm down I looked for relible information about rehab. There's some excellent YouTube material, especially the Royal Melbourne Hospital videos I mentioned earlier. I think with the shoulder it's not unusual to not regain the full range of movement, so forewarned is forearmed.
