I wake assuming we are no longer geographically part of Europe as...
..."Europe is on fire" according to the 'Media'.
Well, it isn't here. It is v.cool and v.wet just as it has been for most of the last 3-4 weeks.
The garden has gone mad with weeds and long grass and it is too wet to do anything out there. Grrr!
Being damp, the countyside is full of flies and other flying things making even a short walk purgatory.
Cumbria is definitely not burning.
On the dieting front...
Last year due to illness related inactivity I put on well over a stone in weight.
On Jan 1 this year I simply stopped eating potatos, bread, rice, crisps, biscuits, cake and <85% cocoa, chocolate.
First week was horrible but since then it was easy - I no longer have carbo-craving.
Since my 30's I had put on about a stone or so which I was comfortable with but I have now gotten rid of this and last years pile-on and now weigh 32lbs less than on Jan 1. I am chuffed with this.
I think maybe another half stone could go too although retirees can look really old if they lose too much weight. That's a vanity thing I guess!
On another front, today I am sorting out home insurance, Aviva want £387 this year vs £283 last year which is a *iss-take. Hopefully, meerkats to the rescue!
And Mrs SD has a SIPPS fund that needs a new home - it is invested in commercial property and has performed great over the last couple of decades but it is currently under-performing vs current 3-5 year ISA's and FRB's. Annoying! Biggest problem is that it is too big a pot to move in total to another type of investment vehicle as she would get hammered re tax. So some, using her PA will come out and some will need to find a home in a better performing SIPP.
Takes ages to sort these things out.
Other than that it is gym day, TdF watching, dossing and tonight; watching MI6 which completes our 6 part MI6 box set binge so we will be up-to-date and ready for Ethan's latest exploits at the cinema on Friday.
Have a good day all.
